Answer:	I do not recall but assume a minimal return time. Mine is still fine after a number of years. This is not a music CD player as many assume but for classroom tools and not a high fidelity player as a typical sony cd player or similar would be.

However, we have very successfully used an adapter that is plugged into the 12V power outlet (or cigarette lighter) in the car as we traveled and the unit has performed quite well.
