Answer:	Just went through this with an R720xd. If you are moving to an LSI HBA card use either one right and one left or two lefts to get to either of the full height slots. If you use the two drive backplane on the rear remove the SASA1 jumper cable to it, then take the onboard SASA to the rear backplane directly (cable is long enough). Tuck SASB somewhere since you can't disconnect it. This gets you on board hardware RAID1 for the boot drives and a nice 24bay direct SAS enclosure for storage spaces.

Question:	Is there a need for another or special cable? 2 sas and 1 sata all connected to the same sas cable with power, sas are not working, sata working
Answer:	SAS may not work due to a feature of the drive where if one of the pins is powered, the drive does not boot (pin 3). If the sata power cable that you are connect to this adapter has an orange cable, some SAS drives will not turn on. A simple fix for this is to get a molex to sata power connector, which will not have the orange (3.3v) power line which will allow the drives to function.
