You are just doing the same thing that secures the loop to the card, on the opposite end. BTW, in order to write on the card, or insert your own card, you have to undo the loop on the card side. So in that sense, it is very secure but it is a bit of an inconvenience to have to completely open the clasp if someone were actually needing to see the info.
