Answer:	Very heavy and uneven weighting. Can't get a true, steady beat which I need to use it with Finale. Do not recommend if that's your goal.

Answer:	Ours worked straight out of the box, but it did need to be charged after a short bit. So, yes, I would try to charge it. There is also a power button on the keyboard that needs to be pushed to the 'on' position.

Answer:	You can only sing into the microphone. But you can play whatever keys you want and record it. So the song they make up on the keys records and they can play their song back. My granddaughters love this feature.

Answer:	Just got this 54-key RockJam and YES -- it does have a 3.5 mm headphone jack output -- same size as an iPhone or a laptop. AND it does silence the speakers when engaged. It also has full size keys and very compact --33" long -- just right for sitting on the couch and practicing.
