Question:	What will the 2.25 HP Dewalt router do that this will not? Differences
Answer:	Well it depends a lot on what purpose you are using it for. The HP claims are pretty much worthless as both will be equal in terms of mid-size routing. The major flaw the 2.25HP (DW618. I'll refer to it as "618". Whereas this is the DW616... SO, "616") has is it cannot be used in an upside down router table without blowing up bearings in it. THE 616 is fine in a table. Also, the 616 has a quick start vs 618 which is a slow start. This means the 616 is running full speed at start, while the 618 starts slow and takes a second or two to build up speed. Both have advantages, and disadvantages. The BIGGEST issue for myself and others is that the 618 motor has... well... fire problems. Lol. That motor does not like extended use and with eat up brushes like mad. The 616 might have a bit less power, but its basically unnoticeable if you are using good sharp bits. Most importantly... the 616 (the "weaker" of the 2) tends to handle a lengthy runtime without catching fire lol. Personally, I prefer the 616 when it comes to mid-range routers. It has plenty of power, even with hardwoods, and larger bits. If you are planning on closing giant bits, or surface planing, I'd recommend neither and point you to a larger plunge base style of router with much greater strength, but a much higher weight.

Answer:	It will handle 1/2" and 1/4" shank bits. I've used 3 1/2" raised panel bits in it with no problems, athough I did those cuts in 2-3 passes. Regardless of the router, a full cut with those bits is not recommended anyway.

Answer:	Yes, it does come with the micro-adjust winder. It requires an additional hole to be drilled in the router table to accommodate it but it makes adjustments so much easier than fiddling around under the table. It also comes with the straight edge guide and the collet wrench.
Question:	Does it come with the winder, for adjustments above the table? Do I buy the winder separately
Answer:	Yes you can. The only difference is the unit would be placed on the wall in a different orientation. Rather than side to side it would be up to down or vice versa.

Answer:	This router has both a 1/4" and 1/2" collet so it will accept both size shank bits. I prefer the buy 1/2" shank myself especially in larger bits, they are a little more expensive but seem to run better and last longer. When it comes to brands of router bit Freud is always the first place I shop. I have also had really good success with CMT and Bosch because my local big box store doesn't carry Freud. One thing I will saw about router bits is its always better to buy quality bits they will last for years and produce better results. Amazon has some nice bits sets that come with a lot of common bits that are nice for a person new to the router.

Answer:	This trim router works great with the 2 Ah battery. I wouldn't go with anything more unless you like a lot of top heavy weight. The 2 Ah battery makes it a pleasure to use and will easily last as long as it takes to charge your spare. The reason you are buying this is for light weight and convenience. Don't make it heavy and bulky with a big battery. I use the BL1820B battery with this router for edge trimming and other light duty tasks. If you need run it all day long making large cuts, buy a bigger router.

Question:	Why two wrenches? Also why is there extra collet nut things? Thanks
Answer:	You can either use the button and one wrench or two wrenches. With two wrenches you can get a tighter nut. This can help with certain bits to avoid chatter. If you don't have great hand strength, two wrenches are definitely better. The extra collet is for a different size router bit shank (3/8") which is rare, but my dovetail jig router bit is 3/8" This means I could use this router with that jig. Otherwise I'd have to use a 1/2" shank router with an adapter.
Question:	Can the wired accessories to the cordless be interchangeable
Answer:	I have the corded router, the cordless router and the plunge base that came bundled with the corded model. The plunge base does in fact mount on the cordless router identically. That's all I can confirm for certain, but the two models appear to be machined the same (though the battery compartment does hang out farther from center, interphering with the full extension of the plunge base depth guide bolt, but only at the extreme of the bolt's capacity - if that is explained well)

Answer:	The best that I can answer is that it was assembled in Mexico according to the labeling on the router. No indication as to where te components were made.
Question:	you can have with bulb voltage
Answer:	Always check the data plate for the correct operating voltage required to run the tool. Never run a tool that is placarded as 115 VAC on a 200 to 220 VAC source. Vice a Versa, a tool that is placarded for 220 VAC will not work on a 115 VAC source. So, any "bulbs" would have to match the input voltage. Check with a hardware store or tool repair location.
Question:	what size bit fits this router
Answer:	1/4" shank. Maximum bit diameter 0f 1 3/8". With a maximum bit diameter of 1 3/8" don't attempt to make heavy cuts as that could tend to over load the motor. Take light cuts and increase depth or horizontal cuts incrementally as long as they don't affect router speed or loading.

Answer:	I wonder if you had bottomed out the bit in tne collet. Insert the bit, then pull it back out by a small distance and tighten the collet. Bits bottomed out have a habit of coming loose.

Answer:	This is a 1/4" collet router. If you want to use 3/8" (new to me) or 1/2" get a 1/2" router. I've used routers for 45 years. Own a 1/4" and two 1/2" Here's a quick guide: 1/4" router is the most widely useful, can be held in one hand for quick work, your arm doesn't get tired as fast as with a larger router. This one is good for hinge guides and door installs, laminate trimming (laminate trim bits with bearings), round over of the edges of boards or plywood. Makes a neat no slivers edge, get 1/2", 3/4" diameter cove bits (these will make 1/4 and 3/8" from the edge curves) I get these with bearings as well. (If you want less of a curve, use less depth, the curve is not symmetrical--no one will care. This is what I usually grab my 1/4" router for (I've got a Porter Cable 1/4" that's 40 years old. Can't figure out how to take it apart to replace the cord. Rather than a $60 trip to the tool repair I'm thinking of this one, vacuum dust collection is a plus). Shelf dados, usually 1/2 to 3/4" wide, is best done with a more powerful 1/2" router, but you can get by with this with two passes (overlapping) of a 1/2" straight bit. Plunge routing: always use dust collection. Freehand scroll work: 1/8 or 1/4" round bits- I don't do this, others do. If you don't yet have a router, or a specific shop need, get a 1/4". If you think you need one of those $400 router tables: don't. Make your own or buy a jointer. Figuring out how to make a router table will teach you about making jigs (you can make a fence that has finer adjustment than the fanciest most expensive one on the market) Direction of working. There's a correct direction to running a router along the edge of a board. With plywood, pine, fir, spruce, etc.. going the correct way can rip out long splinters. If you first make a very shallow pass in the 'wrong' direction to knock off the edge, then go normal depth in the correct direction, you can avoid this. (I still don't know if I want this router or not. There were 6 opened and reclosed boxes (returns?) at the Home Depot. Why?)
