Answer:	I have not tried it, however, if it were a problem there would have been a warning in both manual and sticker on unit. Really there is not a need for the external power. The batteries will last for weeks at a time. I have 3 of these units and only replaced batteries 1 time on one unit. Even after removing batteries the old batteries checked 75%.

Answer:	Lot of misinformation here, the manual never states 25 feet away from human activity, it states 25 feet from your pool/patio. The reason for that is to maximize the coverage area. If you were to put the unit in your backyard right by the house it would cover 25 feet in front, however if you placed it 25 feet away from tour house you would get a coverage area with a 50ft diameter (25ft front and 25ft back up to your house). The chemical attractant is not needed however it may increase your chances of killing mosquitoes (it supposedly contains chemicals that attract certain mosquitoes and biting flies) as not all mosquitoes are attracted to the UV light alone.

All you need do is wait for a cool morning and take a long stick or broom handle or some such to knock down the nest. Once the next is knocked down, they will not return. If you do not have a good opportune moment to do this, you can always buy some flying insect bug spray. You will have to get close to the insect to do it, but one good spray will kill wasps, yellow jackets, etc. Never harm a honey bee. Honey bees are our friends. I even prefer to deal with wasps, hornets, etc., by simply knocking down the nest. If you can avoid using chemicals, and you can avoid killing anything, it is better to do so. The only creatures I have no compunction in killing are roaches!
