Product description

The General Tools MMD4E Pin-Style Digital Moisture Meter provides accurate moisture level reading to detect leaks, dampness and moisture in wood, walls, ceiling, carpet and firewood. It is an essential tool for assessing water damage and remediation efforts after flooding from storms, hurricanes, roof leaks or broken pipes to discover hidden water damage in floors, walls and under carpets. By checking suspicious water stains with a moisture tester around the house, you can determine whether the area is wet (a perfect breeding ground for mold) or has long since dried. This water leak detector also is helpful for new home inspections and home restorations, locating roof leaks or simply to ensure firewood is ready to burn. It also ensures the appropriate level of surface dryness before painting, sealing or treating wood or drywall. The moisture meter is easy to use: simply stick the stainless steel pins into the surface of what you are measuring in order to get a read-out. Overall measurement range of 5 to 50% for wood and 1.5 to 33% for building materials. The backlit, large, easy-to-read digits and clearly-designed LED alerts tell you immediately if the moisture content is high, medium or low. Plus, the moisture meter has audible high, medium, low alerts so you will be able to hear the level even if you are in a dark or awkward space where you can’t see the screen. The sturdy, ergonomic shape and rubber side grips allow for comfort even when using for multiple measurements. Every moisture meter also feature a hold function to freeze a reading to read later, auto power off and a low battery indicator. Every package includes extra 0.3 in. (8mm) stainless steel pins, a protective cap that doubles as a calibration checker and a “9V” battery.

User questions & answers

Question: made in USA
Answer: Nathan, Thanks for the question. The Moisture Range on this Hand Held meter for CORN is 10 - 40%. However, the clear plastic funnel which is provided to assist with consistent filling of the test cell, will not work well on corn over say 25 - 30%. This is due to the lack of flowability in the higher moisture content. I would suggest that you still fill the funnel, but pour the sample back out the large end at just 1 - 2" above the test cell. EVERY TIME and at the same Rate. With this consistency, you would have much greater repeatability between different tests. I would also suggest using the feature to average three readings to allow for some fill variation. Hope that this has help with the operation of the meter. Tom Runyon Seedburo Equipment Co.
Question: I have a wooden floor that is swelling little bit. I know I had a small water leak. Can this tool help me to check if there is moisture underneath
Answer: Not on the standard instrument, but YES, Long Grain and Medium Grain Rough Rice have recently been added to the available Calibration list. These would need to be substituted on the list, for example, Oats and Milo could come off and we add in the Long Grain & Medium Grain Rough Rice. Just let us know at the time you place your order and we will make this substitution free of charge. Seedburo Equipment Co.
Question: Can I use this product to rule out a plumbing leak under my concrete bathroom floor. The outer bathroom wall is concrete & paint is bubbling
Answer: Es el mismo equipo, la unica diferencia es que el GACMINI2500 es mas preciso.
Question: accuracy
Answer: Thank you for your question. No, the GACMINI testers do not test frozen grains, only the GAC2500UGMA or GAC2500AGRI have the capability of reading this much lower temperature and compensating for this in the calibration. You can view a list of the available calibrations for the MINI testers at the following website: http://cal.dickey-john.com/calibrations.aspx Please let us know if you have any other questions - Kathy at Seedburo Equipment Company

User questions & answers

Question: Can it be used for measuring moisture in soil
Answer: The little booklet says to use setting # 3 when you are not sure about a wood type, I would start there and then try setting one up and one down and see what the readings are and how they compare to each other. Then get it wet and try the test again.
Question: Hola, como funciona el aparato?? he leído que lo que marca en el display es la humedad relativa, pero no entiendo. Gracias
Answer: The company doesn't specify the sensing depth. You might have to call them.
Question: Will this measure moisture through marble and backer board? I think I may have a leak behind it. Thank you
Answer: No, not out of the box, The time might come where you will have to like when it won’t go back to zero, that happened to me one time , however, just keep your instructions They will show you how to calibrate Your meter back to zero hope this helps
Question: Does it come with a case
Answer: Put it back in the package and return for replacement

User questions & answers

Question: Have this meter and use it often. I misplaced the red rubber probe tip cover and am looking to get a new one. Anyone know where I can find one
Answer: I have this meter as well. I don’t use the rubber cap anymore after the probes tip broke off due to putting on and taking off. I also use mine on a daily basis.
Question: What does "moisture levels in soil from 0 to 50%" mean? I need to quantify how much water is contained into the soil. What's the conversion
Answer: There's no conversion, this meter will read from 0 to 50% moisture, 50% is the highest it will go. You can always test with something that is dry, use that as a reference.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with a case
Answer: The MO210 does not come with a case. Greg M.
Question: What's the moisture scale for drywall (e.g., what scale number is dry, what's elevated, and what's wet
Answer: Best to google what condition your looking for. The thing you have to remember is that every material that can except moisture will try to go to whatever the humidity level the surrounding air is. Some material will transition to that moisture level quicker then others. So most materials will be whatever the average humidity level that the air around them will be. Materials in air that has no humidity will be very dry and materials in high humidity will be very low.
Question: Please tell me how deep the probe need to go into the wall or wood in order for the meter to read accurately
Answer: Probes are around 1/2" long. You can touch material to gauge external moisture level, or insert into any material for more accurate readings. There is no set spec. Manufacturer recommends inserting the pins as deep as possible.
