User questions & answers

Question: how hot does it get? what exactly is the thermostat's shut off temp
Answer: it will get as hot as you like it, but it won't boil. I use it to heat water for tile work and I love it, takes about 10 minutes to heat cold water to 100 degrees in a standard 5 gallon bucket but gets much hotter if you leave it in.No clue about a thermostat I wouldn't leave it unattended for an extended period of time.
Question: can it be used to heat a hot tub when you are not in it
Answer: If you have a "portable" home hot tub that plugs into a 110 socket, these bucket heaters are a godsend...A tub like that has about the same heating power as one of these immersion heaters....i.e. not much compared to a 220 v hot tub. I used two of these for years in a 4x6 tub, tripling the heat, which worked great as long as you can use 3 different circuits (15 amp) , one circuit per load. I attached screw eyes to the tub and a snap ring to each heater cord so they would hang at the proper depth. I will say it's a gut check to be IN the tub with these turned on, as you better trust your GFCIs to save your hide in case of a short, as these things are not NASA quality, to say the least.....At least they allowed me nice quiet tub time without the other folks crowding in!
Question: Wanting to use this in a 5 gallon bucket and need to keep my water at a constant simmer not a boil. Will this bring the water to a boil
Answer: I've left it in a 5 gallon bucket for 8 hours straight, it has never brought the water to a boil... it will keep it very hot though! I'm sot so sure about a simmer...
Question: I need to use an extension cord with this bucket heater? Any recommendations for the proper extension cord
Answer: The manufacturer of this heater makes a water-resistant extension cord for it. http://smile.amazon.com/Allied-Precision-LD16-25-Lockndry-Detachable/dp/B0030DC5O8

User questions & answers

Question: is this a standard propane cylinder like you would use for camping gear? looks stubbier than the cylinders I have
Answer: No, one-to-one control, and the remote controller can not mixed use. We are preparing to sell one-to-more control holders, then you can control 3-5 or more lamps together. Hope it helps, ^_^
Question: I plan on using this above 9000 feet in Colorado. Will i have a problem with it not working or turning off because of the low O2 already or height
Answer: Bulb Socket Dimensions (Dia x H): 2.68 x 2.83 in, it adds approximately 1.58 in (4 cm) to fixture height, please check if the light socket size is suitable for your ceiling fan
Question: Can this be used indoors in Delaware or do I have to buy a different model
Answer: Check and make sure the socket you have it screwed into is actually on. If there's a hanging cord or wall switch etc, they have to be turned on or no power gets to the socket. Once the power is on, the remote will then be able to turn the power to the added, screwed in socket on/off. It's like having a wall outlet that's controlled by a wall switch. You can plug a lamp into the outlet, but if the wall switch is off you can't turn the lamp on by the lamp's own switch
Question: What does Canada and Massachusetts approved mean? or what is the difference
Answer: This wireless light socket is available for voltage 220V-240V, you can get it with our guarantee

User questions & answers

Question: What size propane tank does it use
Answer: You can use the little green bottles as is and if you get the double make ended hoses that go to the big 20lb tanks you can use them too! It’s very versitle. I use it on the big tank when camping I have both the little buddy and the mister heater big buddy.
Question: Would this be safe in a truck camper shell
Answer: Probably not, because it could ignite gas tank fumes. There's also a carbon monoxide worry-otherwise, it does mount on the wall and radiates heat out, although I had to deal with heat directly above the unit where you wouldn't suspect it. In my case a little aluminum foil protects those combustibles above the unit. In other words, in an emergency maybe, but be careful!
Question: How many hours does the heater work on a single propane tank
Answer: It depends on how cold it is and how much the heater is running Johnat4197065064
Question: Does the hose come with regulator and connectors in this combo kit
Answer: I bought the heater & carry case, the regulator & connectors for the 20lb. propane have to be ordered separately. The heater is set up for the small bottle. The hose for the 20lb. is a very specific item.

  • 24-hour programmable timer activates pump when you need it

User questions & answers

Question: How many amps is the pump
Answer: The pump runs at .22 Amps, and recommended supply current of 2.5 Amps. A standard 15 Amp wall socket is all that you need to plug it into. The .22 Amps the pump indicates maximum start up current, actual running current will be somewhat lower. Inrush current is always higher, when the motor has to start up, actual running current will be lower, example a 1 HP motor will have an inrush current of about 34 Amps, just until the motor reaching normal operating speed then it drops down to around 7.5 Amps, quite a bit lower, but the breaker needs to be able to handle the inrush currents.
Question: can i used without the sensor valve
Answer: Yes.As long as you have a return line running back to your water heater. You do not need a separate return line at every faucet. You need one return line. Follow your hot water pipe to the end (last branch takeoff), cut in a tee and run pex or copper. At the bottom of your tank style water heater there is a small, usually plastic valve. Remove that valve and screw in a 3/4" brass or stainless pipe nipple. Then install a tee inline with side outlet looking up and in the end of the tee put a brass drain valve to replace the crappy plastic one if applicable. The side connection on the tee you installed is where you will connect your return line you just ran. I did not notice if this pump had a built in check valve but if not you may want one to prevent water from flowing through both the hot water main and the hot water return to the faucet nearest the end. Water will follow the path of least resistance so the last branch on the main usually ends up being similar in distance to the water heater from either line. As a result water can back feed up the return line and will bring the cold water entering the tank with it. This is especially true when a second source of hot water is being used at the same time hence the need for a check valve.
Question: If the pump is on, and the water is hot, the sensor valve closes, right? Isn't the pump trying to push water against a totally closed line
Answer: This type of pump is designed to operate with zero flow, and it actually uses a little less electricity when it is not moving water. When the sensor valve closes, the pump does not move any water. When the sensor valve reopens, the pump moves water from the hot water line into the cold water line.
Question: So what this does is move the hot water through the pipes constantly, not just when you need it? Seems like an energy suck. Is it
Answer: If you run this all the time you will likely increase your water heating costs significantly as you are turning your pipes into a big radiant heater. You can use the built in timer to only have it come on at set periods, but this will only work if you have a very fixed schedule. I attacked this another way. I plugged the unit into a TP-Link HS110 Smart plug that is Alexa controlled. I can just say turn on hot water pump or turn off hot water pump when I want to control it. But that was not good enough for me. I found that if this pump ran for four minutes it would give me hot water at the distant shower that I wanted, so I did the following. I wrote a routine to turn on the pump, wait four minutes and then turn it off. While I can run this by voice, I bought the new Amazon Alexa Button, they are about $14 for a two pack. The button is battery operated and communicates to another Alexa device. Just before I take a shower I push the button and within four minutes the water will be hot without having to run water.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this heat a 20x40 party tent
Answer: Good evening. My tent is 20 x 50. I Purchased two of these units that are dual fuel. Eventually I will converted to natural gas. But to get them up and running I use propane. These units put out a lot of heat. I’ve never turn both on at once yet, my initial set up I turn both of them on and it got very hot. They’re quiet and on the outside they stay cool so they’re not a hazard. Very happy with these units. I normally turn them on after the sun goes down when it starts to get cold.
Question: Could this be used to heat a remote 24' x 20' cabin at -40°F
Answer: I would assume minimal insulation in the cabin. The premier 80 should be sufficient. It will be important to keep snow off and away from inlets of unit. The remote stat and ducting will need to run into the cabin.
Question: Does this unit come with the duct and defuser
Answer: It would be additional
Question: does it come come with thermostat
Answer: YES AND REGULATOR W/HOSE

User questions & answers

Question: Can you HANG this from something
Answer: YES you can hang this heater. It's been done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZsVX6mh8O4
Question: Does anybody have trouble lighting this heater? Seems I need to hold the ignition button in for a minute and it really hurts my thumb
Answer: Hey Spike, I agree with Thomas W. Mine wouldn't start on the first try either. You have to hold the ignition button down, wait a few seconds, then depress again. It's kind of a pain, but it works. A more annoying issue for me was wanting to use it in my golf cart, but with every tiny bump, the safety feature kicked in and off it went. So, it is safer for home use. For the cart, I bought the Coleman Catalytic Heater with the special holder that fits in the cup holders. It's more quiet too. Stay warm!
Question: With an adapter hose can it be used with a large propane cylinder
Answer: Not a problem. Make a 10"x10" box. Nail 2x6 together in the shape of a U. Then put 3/8" inch plywood on top and bottom (3/8" a must on top). Then make a 2 1/4" hole in the center of the top plywood. Next screw the main heater assembly into the filter with the top plywood in between (the two should come together snug leaving a very small separation which will allow the heater to rotate with no chance of a leak but still be secure). Then attach the hose and tank. This box allows for a large tank to be attached, the heater can rotate and the tipsy problem is gone.. Just remember to turn off the tank first to burn up the gas in the line before turning off the heater.
Question: Has anyone used it tent camping? I'm afraid of fire and fumes, but the cub scouts insist in camping in sub freezing temps
Answer: I used it last summer (2017), at night We went to bed late around 1:00 am, and usually by 5:00 am the 1lb tank is already empty and it's went the temp is the lowest, I spent about a tank per night, kept our 8 person tent warm, we have ventilation at the top and all the heat went up but I rather have ventilation that non at all, I'll probably wake up at 5 and replace the propane tank. We camped I bigbear, CA and it was cold at night, I might try an electric heater plugged into my Honda but still you have Carbon monoxide coming from the generator.
