When you play with nylon strings, the moisture absorbed into the string expands it (making it longer) ending up with loose the tensions.In addition Polyester strings are stronger than nylon so you can generally go one gage smaller (17 gage instead of 16) which improves bite into the ball; enabling you to create more spin. The octagonal cross section of this string and the rough surface on it helps with spin even more. The strings in the racket are more likely to stay in place as you play unlike nylon strings which move. It is advisable you string your racket to approximately 10% less tension than your nylon strings to get similar hitting power. |

| Answer: | This is an over-grip. As such, you don't need to replace your original, as it will give you a new grip feel. It does however slightly increase the grip size. For instance, if you use a 4 1/4, it will increase it to roughly between that and and a 4 1/2. That's usually an increase that's slight enough to adjust to easily. (You may even find you like the slight grip increase better.)I used to use replacement grips and they were expensive to replace after every 3 to 5 matches. I started using over-grips instead and haven't gone back. I've tried at least 10 different OGs, and settled on this one about 5 years ago. Here's why: 1) This has absolutely the best tack quality (non-slip characteristic) of anything out there, 2) It lasts longer than any others, 3) It alters the original grip size the least, and 4) It is the most price effective. (About 1/5 the cost of a replacement grip.)Lastly, I have a few times removed the original grip and piggy-backed 2 of these together to get the effect of a replacement grip.
