User questions & answers

Question: how to close
Answer: The US1 has a black blade and a cut out for your index finger in the handle. They both have similar shaped 420hc blades. They appear to be similar in size and shape. I haven’t handled the LST, but the US1 is a great pocket knife for every day carry.
Question: where does it made? in china
Answer: It is about .75”x .1” at it’s thickest points.
Question: it does have a pocket clip! responds well to sharpening
Answer: I've sharpened the blade several time after hard use. Once with a file and the other with an electric knife sharpener. As for the bevel, I let the blade's bevel guide me in sharpening.
Question: USA made
Answer: Blade length: 2.6"Overall length: 6.1"Closed length: 3.5"Weight: 1 oz.Thanks
Question: How is this different from the gerber lst knife, fine edge [22-06009]? they seem almost identical
Answer: Knife does not come with a case.
Question: What is the width of the blade itself
Answer: Thesee are being sold as first quality, but in reality they are defective factory rejects. The blade on mine was rough and dull, not a typical Gerber factory finish!! Had to put it to my wetstone right out of the package
Question: can the blade be sharpened? What's the recommended angle on the bevel
Answer: 7.55 inches
Question: what are the dimentions of the knife
Answer: ( grease ) If you cannot completely open it, may be faulty. However if you can and it is just stiff, try breaking it in in the first 3-5 days. if it is still stiff, you may want to try to add a touch of grease to the black metal flap that makes contact with the bottom of the blade when it is closed. ( located in the back of the knife when it is fully closed)

User questions & answers

Question: why so many damn prices with the same pic and no explanation
Answer: I've had this knife for 5 years. I carry it every day. It is a good knife for general purposes like cutting open packages etc. It is very flat, which I like. The blade itself doesn't hold a sharp edge for long. Not sure what you had in mind for applications. I would suggest it be used for lightweight cuts and sharpened frequently. It is durable and has a locking blade. For the price, it's not a bad deal. You can see them at Bass Pro shop or Sportman's warehouse. You might look there for more pics. Not sure how much that helps?
Question: Would it fit in a boot
Answer: If it fits in a pocket, it will fit in a boot. How small are your feet?
Question: What is the blade made out of
Answer: 7Cr17MoV Chinese stainless steel, per the description for this knife. Eh, it’s a lower end steel. Yet decent for the sub $9 I paid for this knife.
Question: does this knife have a clip for pocket or belt
Answer: No clip, but it's a great pocket knife !!
Question: Does it have a lock when open
Answer: Yes...same side button to open releases lock to close
Question: So what is the best lock back with 3.5" or less blade with or w/o asst opening in 50-100 buck range
Answer: Gerber 22-47161 is the best: spring assist, locks open or closed, clip, best I've owned $27
Question: Does the pocket clip allow for tip UP carry
Answer: Yes. The pocket clip is designed for tip up carry. It is not reversible but can be removed.
Question: This knife is not worth $47! Why did you raise the price by over
Answer: To me it is worth the price as I use it. Reliable, sharp and medium tough

User questions & answers

Question: Should I store with blade open and therefore with spring relaxed or is it okay to leave closed for long periods
Answer: As others have said, closed is fine. Springs wear out from use over time, or from over compression / over stretching. Whether it's relaxed or under (normal) tension wont make a difference for storage.
Question: Is this a linerlock
Answer: No slide lock on the side, Easy one hand operation opening and closing. I have 2 of the 22-47162 and one of the smaller size. Only problem I have is with the smaller one is it will unlock in my pocket and will open.
Question: Where is it made
Answer: Package said china, but,I have to sayIf mine broke today, I'd order another one tomorrow. I've got no gripes about this knife. Hell even Buck is having some of their stuff made there. Also ,the Kershaw I was looking at was made there, and twice the price. Get one, you won't be sorry.
Question: Can the clip be changed to left hand operation
Answer: I tried to open the knife left handed and it is extremely hard to do. The pocket clip is not reversible. There is no screw hole on the opposite side. It is very well designed for right hand use but not left.
