Answer:	You need to see the head of the pliers. They are shaped differently. The version with curved edges on both sides can be used for removing or installing the master link.

Answer:	This is the MLP-1.2 No tool is required to assemble a quick link/powerlink.

Answer:	No trick that I could see. Just put the outside of the jaws in the links and open the handles until you hear a click. I think they are great! So much easier than trying to pull the chain to get it to click into place. There are two versions of these pliers. One does not have the correct shape on the outside of the claws to set the master link.

Answer:	I haven't, but SRAM quick links don't require a tool. You squeeze the sides together and pull the link apart. Trying to use the tool without pressing the sides in could very well break the tool.

Answer:	This tool doesn't "break" chains. It opens quick links. Conex makes quick links that don't require a tool. There is another company that makes one of these tools that nests and holds a spare quick link. I hope this helps.

Answer:	I don't see why it would not. Chains from 9 speed and up are (at lease for Shimano) the same width of the inner, what changes is the width of the links. This tool only touches the inner part (the round cylinder that touches the gears).

Answer:	Yes it will....although it may depend on your type of cassette and crankset, whether it requires a directional chain since the KMC is non-directional....there was a faint "crunch" on my shimano 2x10 set up...that "crunch" went away when i switched to the shimano HGX chain which is a directional chain...otherwise it is designed for the 2x10 set up

Answer:	Yes, it works fine on mine. I run an Ultegra 12-25 cassette and ultegra shifters and have no problem. I like this chain better than SRAM or the shimano chain.

Question:	Dumb question! How the heck to I resize the links? Can this be done by hand or do I need a chain tool thingy
Answer:	Yes, you need a chain break tool to shorten chain. I nailed two finishing nails a few inches apart to a 2x4 in my garage ceiling. Then I hang the new and old chains beside each other to eyeball the length required. But you still must count the links since the old chain has typically stretched compared to the new chain. You then break the new chain then install.
Question:	Does this chain work with a 2x9 drive train? Shimano deore xt specifically
Answer:	Recently I changed my bike's drive train from 3x9 to 2x9. I only removed 3 links to have a better fitting.

Answer:	The 9.99 is all silver, the 9.93 is sliver/black. Both work the same the 9.99 will last a little longer in a wet climate (less rust). They are both good working 9 speed chains.

Answer:	NO ! This is a solid pin chain. I just checked both of my bikes. Good , inexpensive chain for heavy use and heavy people. I run 217 to 222 lb. of muscle and I get about 2 years of hills with this chain on my commuting bike (12 miles each way, 2-3 times a week) much of it on dirt road and rail trail so lots of grit. Answer:	I'm guessing you have 112 links. chains are sold long and have to be cut to size with a chain tool. this chain is 116 links, so it will work for you so long as you can get your hands on a chain tool.

Answer:	Regular chain tool worked for me. Was a bit more effort needed to get the pin started through. After it started to move, was no problem.

Answer:	This is designed for road, but I would think if your bike is only 10 speed cassette in the rear, you would be ok. I would look for something designed specifically for mtb, and the gearing of the cassette.

Answer:	buy the KMC Missing links...however you will need to get 2 regular links from another chain... the (KMC missing links) simply replace the male part of regular chain links and therefor offer no extension arrangement on their own....however they will serve a coupler for the addition regular chain links in your application.....in my opinion this works better than using chain pins
