Answer: The plates, bowls, & cups I would say yes to being dishwasher safe. The silverware however I wouldn't trust. In my opinion the handles are cheaply made... The Enamel coating used can withstand cooking on an open fire while out camping, (same coating used on pots, pans, & coffee pots.)

Answer: The back of the dishes state: gibsonUSA.com ( China ) Dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. It's a similar style to a Potterybarn set I have. These are a lesser quality, lighter and the finish isn't always even, but it's a nice starter set or for use when you need many place settings at a reasonable price. If needed, I would buy these again. :D

Answer: I really don't know the answer to 300 or 500 pounds. However, I can tell you this is a really good product, extremely heavy and is a must have for the severely handicapped.
Question: Is this product BPA free
Answer: If you are experiencing the "indentation" in the middle of the overlay like we have experienced, then rotating it won't help. It seems to be a flaw in the product that it doesn't remain flat for very long at all. Haven't found anything else we could use. But if you were to learn of a product that is more stable please let me know. If, however, you want to rotate it for other reasons, I can't see where that would hurt anything.....but would it help? I don't know.
Question: is the set dishwasher safe
Answer: The top cover of the overlay is somewhat protective from dampness. We still use washable underpads on top of the regular sheet on top of the gel overlay. It may compromise some of the effectiveness, but there is still benefit to the patient on all counts. All of overlays we have had developed depressed areas midway where the patient's rear lies and we need to replace them every couple of years. The patient lets us know when she no longer feels the comfort the overlay originally provides. The patient is a family member we have cared for at home for 14 years. I wish there was a way to turn the overlay so that it could be used with either the top or bottom under the patient, but there doesn't seem to be anything like that on the market. Good luck with your care situation.
