User questions & answers
Question: | Can you cook frozen pizza on it or will that cause a preheated stone to crack |
Answer: | It says in the description details that you can use the stone to reheat cold foods and frozen pizza |
Question: | What is the best way to cook a Papa Murphy's pizza on your pizza stone |
Answer: | The hotter the closer to brick oven style you’ll get. Preheat the oven to 500 (550 if it’ll go that high) with the stone in it. Wait about 10 or so minutes after it hits the temperature to let the stone get nice and warm. Transfer the pizza to the stone (preferably with a pizza peel) and cook it for about 7ish minutes. I set a timer for 5 and then sit in front of the oven with the light on watching it the last few minutes. |
Question: | How do you cook a frozen pizza on it? The box specifically says not to expose the heated stone to extreme temp changes, such as a frozen pizza! lol |
Answer: | If you look under the Care section on back of box, it says avoid placing frozen pizza on hot stone. Yet at top of box, it says stone is convenient for heating ready-made frozen pizzas. My wife and I have this same question: can we use this stone for frozen pizza? I know pizza instructions usually say to cook on rack, but we are tryng to avoid drippage. |
Question: | Will the pizza stick to the stone surface after using this stone |
Answer: | I have been using this stone for two months and the food never sticks to the surface of the stone! I rarely write reviews of products, but the company's stones are really great! |
- Faster - This pizza stone for oven pre-heats twice as fast as other pizza stones on the market. It thoroughly cooks homemade pizza at quicker baking times and produces a much crisper crust. The tapered edge allows for easy serving
- Less mess - The baking stone is coated in a non-stick glaze that prevents crust from fusing to it and creating a mess. Does not stain from grease or burnt crust and washes easily. Just sponge it with warm, soapy water and it will look brand new again
- Designed to last - The pizza stone for grill is made from black ceramic and is coated in a protective glaze, so there is no need to worry about the surface being affected by ultra-high temperatures. It also will not smoke, giving more flavor
- A perfect slice - Do other pizza stones for grill and oven come with a wheel cutter? This one does and it slices through pizza with ease. No more half-sliced pizzas that you need to pull apart. You can even use it when you order pizza in
- Natural materials - The baking stone for bread and pizza is made of fine natural materials and must be used correctly, first placed in a room-temperature oven and then preheated, otherwise placing the cold stone in a hot oven could cause it to crack

Question: | Can this handle 470 degrees without breaking |
Answer: | I'm not sure. It has handled 450 degrees without breaking and has lasted for half a year so far. |
Question: | Does this stone emit or have any lead content since it is ceramic? Any health hazards |
Answer: | I do NOT see any reference on the manufacturer's website (http://skysolutionsusa.com/product/pizza-stone/) regarding the composition of the stone or that it is completely safe. I am considering purchasing this but I need to know what's in it, particularly about the paint and the glaze/coating. |

Question: | Can I place this on glass top stove to be a heat diffuser and put pots on it |
Answer: | This could act as a diffuse my fear would be scratching your glass with the pottery. Depending on pot sizes you may look at a Wok Ring. Your mileage may vary :) |
Question: | I want to buy usa made and not made in china. where was this made |
Answer: | I emailed the company and just got an answer. I'm SO bummed! The pizza stone IS made in China. I try to buy US products as well but this slipped through the cracks. Great question. |
Question: | This says to always pre heat oven. What about for frozent food |
Answer: | While you are preheating your stone in the oven, you can set your store-bought frozen pizza on your counter and allow it to thaw. It will be a little flimsy, so after placing cornmeal or flour on your stone as directed, use a long pancake turner to place your pizza on the stone. If you have enough room, you could always use a pan and place the whole shebang on top of the stone. Remember the warnings that an ice cold frozen food item MIGHT crack your stone. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this pizza stone fit into an average size oven |
Answer: | Yes, this will work on gas barbecues and over firecamp grills. Place you pizza stone first and then fire up the gas. Once finished with cooking, leave it to cool on the rack and refrain from touching when hot. Good luck. |
Question: | Just bought the stone. How would you suggest I season it so that becomes nonstick faster? I made some rolls and they stuck to it. Nonstick spray |
Answer: | As to thickness: I measure the stone proper at 0.5" thick. However, when on a flat surface it sits on small "feet" that may raise its height from the surface to 0.8; I haven't measured that height. |
Question: | Will this withstand temperatures of 900 degrees |
Answer: | Absolutely! I use this stone exclusively on a powerful 36" Lynx grill. I cook Neapolitan style pizzas in 2 minutes, no turning or fuss. Using an IR thermometer to test its surface temp, I've found the stone withstands rising to at least 790 degrees F in the grill. Just like using it in the oven, put it on the grill before firing up the heat. And I suggest using indirect heat. I set the flames to low or med-low directly beneath the stone, and crank those on either side to high. Haven't had any problems... other than an intense desire to eat pizza every night. |
Question: | The description says 20" wide. Is it really |
Answer: | Yes. I use it almost every week on a gas grill. I light the grill and set the stone on it so they warm together. I start on high then lower the heat as necessary for desired temp. I shoot for 450-500 degree, cook for 5 minutes, rotate pizza 90 degrees and check bottom and go for another 5 minutes. |
