Replacing the seal on the flush canister: (1) turn off the valve supplying water to the tank; (2) Flush the toilet to empty the tank; (3) Disconnect one end of the pull-chain from the canister or from the flush handle; (3) Put your fingers under the guide that protrudes from the top of the canister and turn it counterclockwise one-quarter turn (This will release the canister from the tank); (4) Remove the canister; (5) Turn it over and pull off the rubber seal; (6) In its' place, install the new one; (7) Replace the canister; (8) Turn the guide clockwise through one-quarter turn to lock the canister in place; (9) Reconnect the chain; (10) Turn the water back on. Answer:	Hi Ruth. Most all new Kohlers are a water saver style toilet, and are designed to deliver two types of flushes. First is the quick flush for urine, and that means you push down then quickly release the handle. Less water is used so there is a water savings over emptying the tank. Second flush type is for solids, and you simply hold down on the handle until the flush is complete. All the water in the tank is used, but the newer tanks are smaller, so less water is used compared to the toilets of the 50's and 60's. It's all about water savings. No one thinks to tell you, eh? Question:	My part number is 25 098 11 which is listed in your information. One of your reviews said the mount holes are vertical, not horizontal as shown
Answer:	Chlorine in the water softens the seal and it becomes a sticky gum like material and the canister then sticks to it making it difficult to lift to flush. New yellow seal is more resistant to this. Definitely don’t put tablet type toilet cleaners in the tank or you will get to replace this seal frequently.
Question:	Does the selinoid come with the starter
Answer:	This seal, Kohler GP1059291, is the correct replacement for 1016219, and goes on the bottom of the flush canister. The Kohler site is wrong. The part they mention is actually the seal between the base and the tank.
