Answer:	We have only used this handset connected to a Cisco VOIP phone. We have to buy an additional cable to make it fully work. two wires come out of the back. One is power to an outlet. There is another model that hooks to both PC and phone and allows you to listen to items played on your PC.

Answer:	I would just return the phone and try a different one. Our handset did not work out of the box. Without our meaning to, the phone dialed 911 and the police showed up because of course the phone did not ring when they tried us back.
