Answer:	I have these. They are about 5” at the base, in my guess, without measuring. They are great colors, just keep in mind they are short, and lightweight.

Answer:	I don’t think its a good carry on. Maybe if you get a smaller size. You might want to get one with wheels for carry on or a big travel backpack.

If you stack them on their side the bottom support helps the bin keep its shape but once you put things inside they would start to sag on the side (which would be the bottom if you stacked them that way).
