Answer:	It is perfectly safe to keep your butter out on the counter but keep these things in mind. .I always keep it covered(in a dish like this one)and away from the stove to keep it from getting heated accidentally. Also, be cautious of things that may contaminate the butter-for example using it to make a baked potato and getting potato bits in it or using it to make toast with jelly and getting jelly and bread crumbs in it. I just always use a clean knife to make sure this doesn't happen.

Answer:	I have not had that problem. I soften the butter just a little them smooth it down into the bell. making sure there's not air pockets. I have not had it drop once. I also use a stick butter because I like the Irish cream butter.

Answer:	We actually got the Sweese 3151 butter dish with the airtight lid and usually put two sticks of butter in it. We leave it out on the kitchen counter at room temperature so that we always have nice, soft spreadable butter. We have not had any problems with the butter going rancid before it is used up. We do have air conditioning so the kitchen stays at about 72°F even in mid-summer. The soft butter does seem to get used up faster.
Question:	Is this butter dish good for keeping the butter from turning rancid if left out of the refrigerator
Answer:	No. Should fit about 1/2# of cheese.
