Answer: S model has a circle hole in the back compared to the A1 with an oval hole. In terms of the logo placement, the S has the logo on the back and the A1 has the logo in the front. The A1 was released on Amazon after the S and is also wider and taller but depth is less. Both weigh the same. The front pieces you'll see cover up more of the iPad compared to the A1.

Answer: I'm using the stand for the iPad Pro 12", but it should work very well with the iPad mini 2 or iPad Air as well.
