The lower voltage and frequency causes the device to be sluggish and inefficient....e.g., fans, blowers, ac motors for any purpose. Fans will operate slightly slower due to the lower frequency of the Japan power, i.e., sluggish. If that bothers you, buy a similar device that is designed to run on Japanese power. The good news is that most US low power appliances will operate fine on Japanese Power if the power unit to the device reads "100-220v". However, when you recline and then return to upright sitting, it will remain in place (with your back) causing you to constantly have to adjust it to put the back section over the seat back.
