Answer:	Im worried about the same thing because the last time i purchased this cord it almost happened. It would get extremely hot and since my kids used it, I discontinued using it and trashed it. This was about a year ago so maybe its been updated?

It has a plastic part/sleeve right before the connector that you plug into your phone, and on each side of the plastic there is a small hole (that’s how it was designed). After about 2-3 months of normal use, that hole rips apart. I also had similar issues with prior versions. I have no idea why they put the hole there if it rips apart after using it normally for a short time..:

Mine doesn’t have any damage and stopped working after 14 months.
