I wore this while attending school and thought about how I would eat, since your face is covered by a sort of mesh/fishnet fabric through the mouth of the costume, and decided to cut the bottom mesh part of the mouth out (to which the tongue was also attached). I reluctant to cut it at first, but when I did, it made the costume a lot more comfortable and convenient to wear during longer periods of time. Also, it's WAAAAY easier to breathe (and eat) if you cut out the bottom part of the mouth, and your face will be fully(for me)/somewhat exposed. Hope this helped. :)

Answer:	I would think so. Although, I'm not a skier. While wearing it, I cannot see my feet or the floor around me, I am also short, don't know seeing the ground is important or not.
