I used a fabric disinfectant spray (the "kills 99% of germs" type ones) and doused the inside then left it open to dry and air out for a couple days. Just make sure to leave it in a room that doesn't get a lot of action so dust and stuff won't settle in it. After that I would suggest using a disinfecting wipe every once in a while. I don't put the pacis in here dirty, just clean which helps... I just store them until ready to use. I had wondered the same thing myself when I got it, so just sharing what I've done! It never hurts to rinse the paci with water before using straight out of the case, but once you've cleaned this, as long as you don't reach in with dirty hands or put a dirty paci in here, it should be good to go straight into baby's mouth from the case.

Answer:	I don't have an exact volume, but I use the large for my mastiff, and he's never fully saturated one. The elastic works well to keep urine inside until it soaks up.
