A life ring, also known as a lifebuoy or life preserver, is a critical safety device commonly used in water-related activities, including swimming pools, boating, and water sports. Its primary purpose is to provide buoyancy and aid in rescuing individuals who may be in distress in the water.
Key features and information about life rings related to Pools, Water Toys, Sports, and Outdoor Play include:
Buoyancy Aid: Life rings are designed to keep a person afloat in the water. They are typically circular and made of buoyant materials like foam or plastic, ensuring they remain on the surface.
Bright Colors: Life rings are often brightly colored, such as orange or red, to enhance visibility from a distance. This makes them easier to spot in emergencies.
Grab Lines: Many life rings have a grab line or rope attached to them, allowing rescuers or individuals in distress to hold onto the ring securely.
Easy to Throw: Life rings are lightweight and have a simple design, making them easy to throw accurately to someone in need of assistance.
Safety Regulations: In many areas, the use of life rings is regulated by safety standards to ensure they meet specific requirements for buoyancy and visibility. Compliance with these regulations is essential for their effectiveness.
Pool Safety: In pool settings, life rings are often stationed around the poolside, especially in areas with deep water. They are part of essential safety equipment to respond quickly to emergencies like drowning.
Water Sports and Boating: Life rings are also common on boats and watercraft. They serve as a vital tool for rescuing people who fall overboard or find themselves in a water-related emergency.
Training and Certification: Lifeguards and individuals involved in water safety often receive training in using life rings effectively. Proper techniques for throwing and securing the ring are essential for successful rescues.
Compliance with Local Laws: It's important to be aware of local regulations and requirements related to the use of life rings, especially in public swimming areas and on boats.
In summary, life rings are essential safety devices used in various water-related activities to provide buoyancy and aid in rescuing individuals in distress. Question: | Can we have our boat name put on it |
Answer: | On mine it would be about an inch and a half.it really depends on the cane you get but diameter seems to be fairly even along the length of the cane.that said the wood it self is really sturdy it is root wood.and those little roots anchor a large tree to the ground.i personally think the only way to get a stronger cane would be to get a real blackthorn cane or steel. |
Question: | Is this uscg approved? i don't see that specified in the description |
Answer: | yes, this cane is great for self-defense. the crook is wide enough to wrap around men's necks. it is well balanced, and easy to grip. it is also strong, but not too heavy . great wood, and a natural finish. i want another one. |
Question: | What is the inside diameter of the 24" ring |
Answer: | Hi there, it's 9.7 ounces per pole without accessories. If you attach the baskets and rubber tips, it'll be 10.2 ounces per pole. Hope that helps! |
Question: | What size lettering have people used to customize this |
Answer: | Yes, in fact it would be good to have these if you're going through rivers - they'll save you from accidental slips especially if the rocks are a bit slippery, and you can also use them to gauge and test the ground (or riverbed) that you're about to step on. We'd recommend giving the poles a thorough drying afterwards though by taking them apart and patting dry or air drying. As with all things metal, rust is an enemy and drying the poles will help prevent that. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what color is it |
Answer: | The 24 inch I ordered did not come with a throw line. Disappointed as I read the answers to this question before ordering and expected one. |
Question: | how much weight will this ring support |
Answer: | I purchased this life ring in 2014. With the exception of two winters when I brought it inside, it’s been hanging by our pool, in full sun. I just now, in 2020, need to replace it as the lines became brittle and have begun to disintegrate. The ring was faded and definitely a bit haggard looking even two years ago, but it was still bright enough to be noticed as a life saving ring, and it was still functional. |
Question: | Can this be written on with a permanent marker? Im looking to use this for our baby shower for guests to write a message to our little man |
Answer: | The color is more orange than the picture. |
Question: | Hi what is the inner opening size of the 19 inch buoy lifesaver ring? is it 11 iches in the center? thank you jb |
Answer: | It’s a USCG approved, professional quality. Heavy enough you can throw it were you need to. Fortunately we have never had to use it! Wouldn’t have a boat or a pool without one. You can’t go wrong with Buoy. |
