Answer:	When you sit you are on mesh in the water. When you lay on your stomach you are on top of the back rest above the water.

Answer:	The float came rolled up in a box approx. 14" square so yes, it can be rolled up. However, I do not like the quality of this float compared to the same one purchased 2 years ago. The exterior feels sticky and the float itself has very little body as if it were filled with jelly. I would not buy it again.
