Answer:	You could add more ants from the same colony if you provided your own ants in the first place. If you added ants from different colonies, there might be an ant war. The first ants might regard the new ants as invaders.

Answer:	Not unless you leave the lid off. During feeding, it may be possible for an ant or two to get out, but I din't run into that problem.

Answer:	Absolutely! Since the gel has an edible element to it it also will mold after some time and a moldy environment is life threatening to ants. I've done a gel farm long ago and experienced this (cant remember how long it took mold to grow though). It's cool to watch them tunnel in the gel but the ants will live much longer (if well cared for) in non-gel habitats.

Answer:	Although we are in quarantine, the company said they cannot ship the ants to Seattle currently because the weather is too cold but it's 55 degrees here in January... So they're going to wait another month which makes no sense because the peak of winter has not hit. On top of this, they told us we will have to wait 4 to 8 weeks after a month for them to decide maybe they'll ship them. I would have not bought this kit for Christmas if we wouldn't be able to use it for many months.

Answer:	I don't see why not. So long as there is a small branch and leaves that the caterpillar likes to eat, It should be fine. As a child I used a mason jar with holes poked in the lid. Hope this was helpful.

I got the Backyard Exploration Critter Case for myself (I'm an adult) because I wanted to examine some of the critters on our property and get some photos. They look quite the same to me except that the Melissa & Doug entrance cover is not clear. Seems like you may have a hard time looking through that , on the other hand it is very cute if you have a youngster that is going to use it.

Answer:	I would think so my daughter has had this a while, and it didn't have any issues with her and 2 boys playing with it until they shoved a giant stick through it.... I have seen other ones, and this is definitely more sturdy.

Answer:	Thanks for your question and I understand your concern! The ideal ant for the farm is the 5– to 7-mm red harvester ants (you can google them). If you do decide to collect your own ants then I recommend finding one roughly the same size. Please be careful though. if you accidentally gather ants from different colonies they will fight each other. In addition, many ants will sting so be careful when gathering them. While finding your own ants is possible and some people do it, it is recommended that you order using the coupon in the package or from a supplier named "AntsAlive" which you can find via google. This is the easiest way to ensure you are using the correct ants from the same colony. I hope you and your child have a fun time!
Question:	What is the best digging environment for ants
Answer:	Ants (no matter gel farm or dirt farm) dig best at 59 F - 86 F. If it is too cold, the ants will huddle together for warmth and not dig. If too hot, the ants can still dig but will not do so well. Never place the farm in direct sunlight as this will cause it to heat up quickly. It is best to not move them around much the first week. Leave them in a calm place and let them settle into their new home. If you have any problems with ants not digging, please contact us via Amazon. Answer:	Hi BrianSorry for the delay, I had to do some research, but found this recommendation:First you will need to calm the ants down by placing the Ant Factory in a refrigerator for up to 10 minutes. When you get the ant farm out, the ants might look dead, but after warming up, they will start moving again and they might move quite fast. While you open the Ant Factory, you could place the it in a big Tupperware container coated with Vaseline- which makes the surfaces slippery for ants to crawl up. I would recommend opening the chamber closest to where the dead ants or leftover food are located. Remove the dead ants and leftover food using either a long cotton tip applicator or stick. The rake/tunnel starter that is included in the kit can also be used.If ants escape from the farm, they will still stay in the Tupperware container and you can collect them with a cotton tip applicator or stick.You can always refill the Ant Factory with new sand, but be sure to moisten the sand a bit so that the remaining ants to build new tunnels.Hope that helps!

Answer:	No, The ants come in the vile as seen in the picture. When you order the ant works gel farm , there is no need for sand, they live,eat and drink from gel! You only need to open the container every three days to allow air inside because Ants need very little oxygen. I open mine daily. Very easy to care for and beautiful!

Answer:	Although we are in quarantine, the company said they cannot ship the ants to Seattle currently because the weather is too cold but it's 55 degrees here in January... So they're going to wait another month which makes no sense because the peak of winter has not hit. On top of this, they told us we will have to wait 4 to 8 weeks after a month for them to decide maybe they'll ship them. I would have not bought this kit for Christmas if we wouldn't be able to use it for many months.
