Answer:	For most people, navigation built into a receiver with CarPlay or Android Auto does not make sense. This unit does not have built in navigation. Navigation receivers are substantially more expensive. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow you to display the navigation info from your phone - Google Maps, Waze, etc. - on the receiver screen. Unlike the maps that are stored in a device ahead of time, these maps can be updated on the go. For example, if a road is closed because of construction, these apps can route you around the change even if the road was closed only a fe minutes ago. Devices that store their maps ahead of time only get map updates perhaps 4 times a year. But Google Maps and similar services are constantly updating their maps. The one case where having a device with a map that has been stored ahead of time is an advantage is if you are often traveling somewhere without mobile internet service. Google Maps or Waze will be much more limited or perhaps not useful at all in those cases. Even if we are in a dead spot, these services will be fine if we can drive a few minutes down the road and get internet service again. Most of us never go someplace with an extended area without coverage, and when we do we are often on the one main highway through the area and don't have any options anyway. Since receivers with navigation are more expensive, and the subscription to map updates can be expensive as well, most people are probably better off without it. If you think you might need this capability there are navigation apps you can put on your phone that use downloaded maps. For example I use CoPilot GPS for navigating with an RV. It works without internet service and is far cheaper than buying a navigation receiver.

If you are looking to purchase this radio, it has blue tooth, am, fm, video player sirus ready, and so much more. I installed this as a replacement for the OEM basic double din on my 2006 Ford explorer and I can tell you that it's really easy to install, just be sure to purchase the correct OEM factory plug, so you don't have to cut any wires. Also you will need an install kit and they run around ten to fifteen dollars maybe less, just get the correct one for your vehicle. Every thing else comes with the Kenwood...................ALSO I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER WITH THIS UNIT. I had purchased a Pioneer but display was too dim and unable to read in sunlight.
