User questions & answers
Question: | year old |
Answer: | I am not sure if you are asking whether or not this is a good present for a 6 year old or not. But, my son is 6 years old and he absolutely LOVES this set. His 13 year old sister actually likes playing with it as well. We are so impressed with it, that when he is complete with all of the projects, we are considering getting one of the more elaborate sets. If anyone has a 6 year old boy interested in this type of stuff, I recommend getting a set. |
Question: | Should i start my almost 6 year old with this set or with the SC-300 (I have a consignment store bought one in my closet)? Does the "junior" matter |
Answer: | I bought my 7 year old the jr and now wish I had opted for a bigger set. If you already have the 300, I would use that one. They sell an upgrade kit that takes the jr to a 300, so if you bought the jr and then gave the 300 to your child, you'd be duplicating half the kit. |
Question: | I see mostly children ages 5-7 are getting this. Do you think a 12 yr old would appreciate this |
Answer: | My kids are 10 & 12. They Love it! Plus it has upgrades to keep them happy when they get through the lesson book. Personally, I would not get this for a 5-7 yr old....it's electricity...no matter how safe they've made it. |
Question: | years old |
Answer: | I bought it for my (advanced) 5 year old son. He loves it. I helped him with the first 2 projects and then after that I let him build each one and would show him if he made a mistake and how to correct it. You will definately have to explain to them what is going on though because they are too young to understand that from the manual themselves. Otherwise the parts snap together really well, the instructions aren't that hard and after each project, he likes to move parts around to see what changes. |

Question: | Can the pieces be taken apart to build something new or can you only build just one project |
Answer: | Yes, they snap together and can easily be taken apart (assuming they aren't excessively abused) |
Question: | Does the SC-300 come with the red fan and motor that is shown in the 100 kit?? Thank you in advance |
Answer: | yes! My two 8 year old grandboys, gravitated to this kit and both became competent with 24 hours. The experimented and created their own complex circuitry. They even 'invented' some unlikely ways to use the components. For example, the red fan blade became a helicopter blade that whirled off the motor and across the room. With a little organizational control and introduction from an organized adult, they followed the rules and quickly adapted to taking turns and encouraging each other. I was very surprised and pleased by the way they accepted the challenges and commanded the concept of using and controlling the flow of e- to do work. |
Question: | Would a 9 year old girl like this |
Answer: | My 9 year old daughter got the 40 project one for a birthday present and wasn't excited. Then on a rainy day she took it out and did all 40 and was so excited! Now she wants this set. |

Learn While Doing
Give your child an exciting, hands-on introduction to electronics with Elenco Electronics Snap Circuits SC-300. This kit contains over 60 color-coded, real circuit components that snap together to create working electronic circuits and devices. Recommended for children 8 and older, this set offers 305 do-it-yourself projects that will give your child an entertaining, concrete education on how electronics work.
Create Working Electronic Circuits
Snap Circuits comes with over 60 pieces to create 305 different electronic projects. The pieces, which include snap wires, a slide switch, a resistor, a microphone, and capacitors, snap together easily onto the included plastic grid--no soldering required. Each piece is numbered and color-coded to make identifying them easy. These components combine to create working circuit boards just like the ones found inside televisions, radios, and other electronic devices.
Grow as You Go
Because the projects are arranged in order of complexity, kids can build on their skills as they progress through the manual. The lessons start out with a simple electric light and switch project that demonstrates how electricity is turned on and off with a switch. Further along, kids can put together a fire fan symphony, a water-detection alarm, a delayed-action fan, and more.
Design Your Own Circuits and Upgrade Your Kit
Once children have mastered several of the techniques introduced in this kit, they can use the components to experiment and create their own customized circuits and electronic devices. The Snap Circuits SC-300 can also be upgraded to the Snap Circuits Pro, Snap Circuits Extreme, or SCM-400 with the purchase of a UC-50, UC-70, or UC-100 upgrade kit, respectively. Kids will enjoy additional parts, manuals, and projects that'll take their kit--and their fun--to the next level.

User questions & answers
Question: | Good day. If you have the snap circuit already, can you just buy additional components (car and remote) separately to add it on |
Answer: | Mediums are still in stock. FYI these are not leather, but Safarilaminate, which is a leather look in basketweave. |
Question: | What age group is this for |
Answer: | It’s an adjustment strap to loosen or tighten the belt to fit you. I sent my belt back. It wasn’t stiff enough for the holster and 3 reloders. |
Question: | I have two boys . . . do the cars run on the same frequency or are there 2 available |
Answer: | If you’re truly a 35-36 you’ll need a medium belt. |
Question: | Can they make multiple versions of the Rover or are they able to make other things as well with this particular kit |
Answer: | I would go with something a little bigger because you can adjust these belts , if you go just your size you won’t have adjusting room |

User questions & answers
Question: | All you need is a soldering iron, flux, and solder nothing fancy |
Answer: | They include solder. You do not use separate flux. You need a pencil type 25-40 watt soldering iron. You should have a digital volt meter (even a cheep one will be OK). If you have a signal generator and an oscilloscope it would be of great help if you want to follow the training portion of the manual but they are not absolutely necessary - - I did not have a scope or signal generator and was able to successfully complete this kit. You should have had some practice soldering PC boards before starting this kit. |
Question: | where can i buy individual parts for this |
Answer: | All of the parts (except, obviously, the PCB and dial label) can be had from Mouser, DigiKey and AliExpress.Mouser has all of the AM transformers (Xicon 42IF### series http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=xicon+42if).They had the 10.7MHz family, but it is listed as "Non-Stocked, Call for Quote" meaning they still sell them, but will only do so in bulk (say, 1000 pieces).Mouser also carries all of the passives as well.Via AliExpress you can get the "polyvaricon" tuning capacitor and 10.7MHz IF transformers, too. Here's the antenna http://www.aliexpress.com/item/61cm-7-Section-Telescopic-Antenna-Aerial-for-TV-RC-Controller-FM-AM-Radio/2027302143.htmlHere's a link to a radio kit for $6 that is the best of them and has most of the parts http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-AM-FM-stereo-AM-radio-kit-DIY-CF210SP-electronic-production-suite/1623114587.htmlOnly drawback to this kit is the selectivity is via ceramic filters, but the polyvaricon and many of the parts are the same. Adjustment and alignment are very easy, too.Go to AliExpress and do a search for "AM FM radio kit" There *are* some kits that work well and some that can't, but they are a wealth of spare and hard to find parts. http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20150411051925&SearchText=am+fm+radio+kitGood hunting! |
Question: | what is the recommended age for this kit |
Answer: | This kit contains small parts, and soldering is required, with supervision, and comfort with a soldering iron and plenty of room, I would recommend age 10 as a minimum, but depends on the skill level of the builder. My kids enjoyed helping with the various parts and they ranged from 10 years to 6 years. (Tiger) |
Question: | Is this doable for a beginner who has never soldered? The other elenco kits just seem too basic |
Answer: | If you never soldered, I would not recommend doing that. The kit is relatively easy to solder, and it's doable, but most likely you will need to calibrate your hand on something simpler and the basic kits are inexpensive. As a beginner, the hardest (and funnier) part is to troubleshoot the kit and when I started assembling it, I had one bad solder at the first section. Have fun! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this for left or right hand |
Answer: | This robot arm is the new model which is hydraulic and it does not require USB. The hydraulic arm uses regular water to operate. The usb was used in earlier versions of the robot arm.Let me know if that helps. |
Question: | Can you add the usb pack to this model |
Answer: | To be clear, by "oil" I assume you are referring to the lubricant that came in a small bag. As Dohn Riley pointed out, some of the answers to this question are confusing the oil with the "hydraulic fluid" which is water in this case. You can buy a replacement "oil bag" from the company for $1 plus shipping. I suspect that the oil they use is a kind of mineral oil. It has to be something that is safe for kids to get on their hands etc. It looks and feels like drug store mineral oil but is more viscous. |
Question: | What kind of oil can be used as a replacement for the original |
Answer: | Yes, but be willing to pay for it. Unless you catch the error within 30 days of purchase (not receipt), they won't stand behind their product at all. |
Question: | Is there any way to get extra tubing? Mine was cut short |
Answer: | This is the only app-enabled Droid that you put together yourself. Like all littleBits products, the Droid Inventor Kit encourages invention and creativity. It comes with everything you need to create an R2 Unit from scratch, including electronic blocks, plastic Droid parts, and stickers. Each electronic block has a different function (motor, proximity sensor, speaker, etc.), enabling kids to reconfigure and customize their Droid in new ways, transforming their original R2 Unit into any Droid they can dream up. This kit also integrates with any of the other kits (including 70 unique Bits) that littleBits makes. The possibilities for invention are endless. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this set compatible with arduino |
Answer: | The measurements are in inches. If this helps, I love this belt and get compliments every time I wear it. I don’t wear it end to end. The many holes allows you to adjust the way the belt fits. I like it to fit loosely and hang down a little, this creates a perception of being thinner and with a waistline. I have also use the end to wrap around the buckle to create a nice design. I don’t know my waist measurement but can tell you I wear a size 14 in pants (12-16 depending on the make). I bought the large belt. I wear it with dresses, on top of my blouses in untucked fashion with pants or skirts. It hides the loose rolls of my body that would be visible with clothing that clings to your body if I weren’t wearing the belt. I hope this helps. |
Question: | Will this work with Snap Circuits Jr kit |
Answer: | Yes I actually have it on now you simply put the small hook in any hole on any section of the belt so extremely adjustable |
Question: | would an 8 yr old soon to be 9 yr old who has never used snap circuits before understand this set ? or is it suggested a basic set first |
Answer: | I don’t know if it’s really water/sweat proof but I’ve worked out with it on for months and it still looks new. |
Question: | Is it compatible with lego bricks |
Answer: | It would fit for case size 44mm Apple Watch, but might not able to fit 40mm one. |
