Answer:	I would not use alcohol because babies put them in their mouths and the residue alcohol leaves is nasty. I just wash mine with soap and water, rinsing them well. You could do it with vinegar water as well as vinegar kills germs. They are not painted so colors don’t come off. Babies love these.

I purchased these for them and they LOVE that they shake and add an extra dimension to the noise of this toy. The only drawback is that these don't have "green" and they are plastic. Currently they are $8 (Prime) for a set of extras. They do hold up very well though considering the twins fight over them constantly and bang them around with the hammer and any other toy they can find. Answer:	I am about to purchase this to replace a cedar dog house that has survived for 15 years. I also have a cedar shed of about the same age. I weather-proofed it by applying a wood stain, which I'd recommend over sealing the wood because cedar is a great flea and tick repellent. I'd say go to Lowe's or Home Depot and ask in the paint department for a recommendation on what to use with cedar. Whatever you use, it should be renewed every few years to maintain efficiency.
