Answer:	Here are a couple of things to consider regarding your question. First, the lack of electric or battery powered gizmos reduces the chance of something breaking down and upsetting a after he/she has become accustomed to it. Second, children have vivid imaginations that are often diminished by "bells and whistles" on their toys. My 2-year-old grandson happily "played kitchen" using a step stool for a stove and a tray slid underneath it for an oven for MONTHS before we bought this cute little kitchen set. Imaginations are fueled by improvised play, which seems to be a dying art in our digital age. (Sorry ~ my biases were triggered by your question!)
