The P100 filters are usually 99.97% good for particles of .3 microns and larger... A quick conversion is .3 microns = 300 nanometers... hence, a Coronavirus at 125 nm would probably sail right on thru being only a tad more than 1/3rd of the filtering hole size... Again, call 3M, where you’ll probably get the correct answer, but watch out for the unscientific guesses here... 1 micron = 10-6 meters 1 nanometer = 10-9 meters where the -6 and the -9 are the powers that these are raised to... There are a 1000 nanometers in 1 micron.

Answer:	According to the 3M "Respirator Selection Guide" (pg. 86 of the 2015 guide), oxalic acid requires an OV (Organic Vapor) filter and an N95 (Particulate) filter. This cartridge, 60923, has OV, AG (Acid Gas) and P100 (Particulate) filters in the cartridge, so the answer to your question is yes, this cartridge will 'work' (filter) for oxalic acid (bearing in mind that the filter has IDLH and OEL restrictions that have to be met for the efficacy of the cartridge to be insured).

Answer:	The respirator consists of two pieces - the mask itself and the bands that hold it in place on your head - plus the replaceable filters of course (ordered separately). You don't need to take apart the 2 pieces for cleaning, just take off the filters. I don't think it would be worthwhile to replace either piece of the respirator separately.

Answer:	The most common filter for dust is the HEPA filter, it is the P100. The chemical cartridges are specific to exposure. 3m has a page on their website titled "3m PPE Safety Solutions", this page will direct you to a matrix for specific exposure/cartridge matching. "Warning" before entry into an OSHA/NIOSH PEL or IDLH atmosphere, a fit test is suggested and I would say mandatory for personal safety. Certain atmospheres of use would mandate a full face piece or gas-proof goggles.

Answer:	I am told in a real life emergency with constant use, the filters last between 8 and 10 hours. Now that seems short, but I think that this is for Health Safety Purposes.

Answer:	A lot of people misunderstand how "masks" differ from "filters". FILTERS: Medical professionals use N95/P100 filters because they do catch biological hazards, including viruses. Those filters are tested for their ability to catch 0.3 micron particles, because particles smaller than that are caught by N95 filters even more easily (due to air turbulence - just google it if you don't believe). Also, virus do not have wings. They free ride on much bigger particles to enter your eyes, nose and lungs. Studies have shown that N95 / P100 filters dramatically reduce infection rates in medical settings. Now, understand "Masks/Respirators" . They exist because disposable paper/surgical masks typically are not quite air tight (air leaks from all sides), and they don't protect your eyes. You end up with "N Zero", not "95/100" when there is no air tight seal, and air come in through gaps and not your filters, or goes to your eyes. That's why people buy respirators/masks similar to this one, to get an air tight seal. So that air goes through the filters, instead of unfiltered side leaks. The same sort of respirator is sold by many sellers under many styles or different prices, and different brand names for essentially the same thing. Yes, some are better than others, in terms of comfort, voice clarity, materials (silicone or rubber), but expensive does not always mean better. Because you can put 3M N95, N100, P100 etc filters on most respirators (or use adatpers), they will all catch virus as effectively as all 3M filters can, so long as they fit your face and give you an air tight seal. It's just like buying shoes. Do shop around and compare prices. Do your own research to avoid misinformation. Soldiers and medical providers have been using respirators to stay alive against biological and chemical hazards since the dawn of modernity. If respirators don't work, we all would have been long gone. Lastly, beware of filters that come with carbon. If those filters are well made, carbon is a real bonus, and will reduce toxic gas exposure. But if carbon filters are poorly made and release carbon dust, you end up with more unwanted things in your lung. For viruses, you can simply use non-carbon filters.

Answer:	Dear Troy, I'm afraid the manual does not specify the micron sizes (at all). I was hoping it would filter down to around 0.5 microns (50 nm nanometers) however, even the N95 masks only filter out 0.3 microns (which is 30 nm). Current literature indicates that the sizes of various SARS/COV2 particles are around 60-140 nm (0.06-0.14 microns - much smaller than the capability of the masks we've seen). Anyway, I found no mention in the literature.. While the body seems sturdy enough, I haven't yet tried it out in the field. One of the primary reasons was to get some eye protection with a respirator. I saw a short video here on Amazon stating that the 3M FX FF respirator (again, a full face assembly) was the best. Not sure how much that costs, but 3M is always reliable. The one I got was of Chinese manufacture. There was nothing wrong with any of the valves or respirator parts so I'm confident it would work (I did a great deal of research and chose this one because of cost, seemingly solid construction, etc. The latex seals fit around the face rather well; I wear glasses, so that's going to be a bit of an issue I have to deal with in due time. If you're thinking of purchasing it for construction, asbestos, chemical, pollen, sanding, painting, mold abatement, etc., then this is very good. For the Covid-19 virus protection, I think (though not tested outside) it would work well... the purpose of which is to offer breathing/filtering while affording one the chance against touching the face, especially the eyes (which has proven to be an area where you can be infected. One alternative I am considering NOW is getting two pieces; one would be a goggle assembly like the DeWalt Brand DPG82-11/DPG82011 CTR Goggle (for $15.90) and a lower piece respirator (lower portion only)... considering the 'heavy, apocalyptic nature of the full face mask and the inconvenience of sliding both the eye and respirator portions every time, I think it might be a bit more convenient (and safer, perhaps) to keep the two parts separate. I know my text did not answer your questions directly, but I've done enough research to share my thoughts on the mask. I may end up returning this, either for a gas mask full face assembly with a biological component (as in 'ARMY' issue USAMRID type mask - which is really, really expensive) or keep to the two part assembly mechanism. Follow the below steps when attempting to "swap" out one filter in an unsafe breathing environment: 1.) Before removing the filter, take a deep breath. 2.) Next, cover the bottom exhaust filter with your opposite hand. 3.) Exhale hard into the mask - this will properly seal behind the filters. 4.) Remove the filter you are wanting to remove (while keeping your opposite hand over the exhaust valve. 5.) Do not breath in until you have replaced the filter with a new cartridge.
