Answer:	Technically yes. It does put out a mist kind of like a humidifier, but not like a traditional humidifier. It's very compact and I know filling it often keeps it clean, unlike big humidifiers that need filters, etc. I definitely recommend this unit!

Answer:	I don't see how it could, but I really can't say. I use On Guard essential oils from doTerra, which purifies the air. I like that this has the option of running for a minute or so and then stops for 30 seconds and then repeats....it can last all night that way. If you choose the option to constantly run, it doesn't last all night. I'm overall really happy with it!
