Here's what you need to know about Ironclad thermal gloves:

Ironclad Heavy Utility Work Gloves HUG, High Abrasion Resistance, Performance Fit, Durable, Machine Washable, 1 Pair, XL

Product description

One piece clarino synthetic leather palm. Abrasion resistant, double stitched DuraClad palm pads. Breathable, flexible fabrics designed for all day use. ArmorFlex finger sidewalls. Terry cloth sweat wipe. DuraClad Reinforced thumb, saddle and fingertips

Ironclad has given hands a new lease with their high-tech approach to glove design. Ironclad gloves are made to protect workers' hands better than other work gloves, without feeling clumsy the way so many work gloves can. The first thing we noticed about these gloves is that they're tailored to fit the natural curve hands have in a resting position, rather than being cut straight, so when the hand isn't working, it can actually relax without the glove pulling the fingers in an uncomfortable direction. The palm of this general-utility glove is made of Amara, a synthetic material that mimics the resilience, grip, and comfort of suede while remaining machine-washable and resistant to water damage. High-wear areas are reinforced with tough DuraClad fabric, making these the toughest-grip gloves we've ever worn. The fingertips are also reinforced, yet we had no problem with dexterous tasks like picking up coins. We also like the cut of the cuff on these gloves. It comes in tight to the wrist to prevent dirt or other materials from pouring in. Why so many other gloves have gaping cuff designs is a mystery. While the gloves themselves won't be damaged by water, they won't keep your hands dry for long if you're working in really wet conditions. But that can be said of most work gloves, and everything considered, Ironclad gloves are some of the toughest, most comfortable, and easiest-to-work-in gloves we've tried. --Brian Trinen

User questions & answers

Question: How do they fair with chemicals? Specifically industrial bleach
Answer: They will provide physical protection but could interfere with the delicate touch some Dremel operations require.
Question: Will these work with touchscreens
Answer: Good question! Called my husband real quick (he did the glove wearing) they were very comfortable, but with heavy use broke down quickly (in about a month). So they start comfy but I’m not sure if they would break down and get jaggy inside! Hope that helps!
Question: Are these suitable for warehouse selection
Answer: I would not recommend this product for that application, no
Question: Are they good for working with chain saws and fire wood activities
Answer: It depends on the use. I'm a UPS package handler so I beat these up. For example, in building, loading trucks (300 pkgs/hour) and unloading trucks (1000/hour) They lasted about 4 months. But mainly driving, handling 300 pkgs a day, they lasted about 7 months.

User questions & answers

Question: How would this glove work with handling boxes
Answer: Hi and thank you for your question. The HUG is not a chemical glove and bleach would negatively affect the glove. Try the MKC5 that Amazon sells. Not as much dexterity, but it holds up well to bleach.
Question: Is the interior liner attached or does it pull out when you remove your hand
Answer: Unfortunately no. To heavy of a glove for a touchscreen. Great for landscaping
Question: Are these gloves cut resistant
Answer: I've been working select support in a food distribution warehouse. For the first year I kept trying different gloves and these are the best out of the dozens of brands and types of glove. Even so, I only get a few weeks maybe a month of work out of them before they start splitting at the seems (much better than the days to a week that I've gotten out of every other glove). Personally, if I was a selector instead of support, I would use the ironclad box handling gloves. I tried those too. They were the best gloves I tried for picking up cardboard, plastic, and angle boards. They just didn't hold up for long picking up pallets.
Question: Are these gloves the same as in the picture, because that is what I'm looking for
Answer: These r perfect for hard use work like that. But the teary cloth above the thumb will get all those small splinters in them so forget about using it to wipe your sweat off your face. Other than that I dont see why you couldn't use these for that type of labor. I use them for carpentry moving concrete and carrying precut lumber to my stove. Never ran a chain saw with them for a long time.

User questions & answers

Question: are they waterproof
Answer: Hello, thank you so much for considering Ironclad Gloves. Yes, these would work for setting up 'hot lights' that are used in photographic lighting. They are absolutely suitable for heavy film equipment. Some may prefer our EXOT-GBLK-22-S which is the same chassis of glove except it has a silicone fused palm which adds extra grip. Give that style a once over before deciding. There is a comparison chart on the bottom of the glove page that can take you to the grip option. Disclaimer: In the event you are talking about a bulb that gets hot 100-500 degrees then no, we would not recommend this glove. We would recommend our HW6X-02-S Heatworx Glove. All gloves mentioned are available on Amazon.
Question: How much does a size large weigh
Answer: No. They are thinner than other gloves I have, but for example: I still cannot find things in my pocket while wearing these gloves.
Question: Can I use this on touchscreens
Answer: Thank you for your question. Ironclad is not able to set pricing for Amazon. Amazon decides their pricing for the different sizes.
Question: What is the difference between gen 2 (smb) and gen 3 (smb2) gloves
Answer: I don’t think so. They are thick and don’t really allow for you to be moving your fingers that freely.

Question: How well do these resist water
Answer: Hi and thank you for your question. In 2012 we redesigned the SMB to the SMB2. On the fingers we changed to a three layer fabric (fleece, membrane then fleece again). On the back of the hand we changed to a two layer fabric of Stretch Woven Poly plus microfleece. We improved the wrist strap, removed the label and increased the reflective coverage on the back of the hand. I hope this helps. Macky L. Ironclad Customer Service.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be uses under water for one to two hours at a time
Answer: Some kind of leather and padding. It would stop rope burns just don't think they would last very long if it's done every day
Question: Is the sizing comparable to mechanix gloves
Answer: Ironclads website says to machine wash and hang dry
Question: Will these work with touch screen electronics
Answer: Hi Josh, Thank you for your question. The grip material is infused in to the palm so this lengthens the life of the gloves. Just a thought, but as an installer, if back of the hand impact protection is important, take a look at the EXO-PIG-03-M or the EXO-HZI-03-M. Macky L. Ironclad Customer Service
Question: Do they have a good grip
Answer: If you mean for carrying beer and liquor cases, yes. These gloves are great but will not provide great grip on flat surfaces when wet. Example, sides of boxes, flat surfaces.
