Answer:	The instructions that come with the unit duplicate what I have read from several Fire Department sources: you can place your unit on the ceiling, but AT LEAST 4 inches (10cm) from the wall. If you want to mount it on the wall, mount it MORE THAN 4 inches (10cm) BELOW the ceiling, but NO LOWER than12 inches (30cm) below the ceiling. It has to be high enough up the wall to "smell" the smoke, but that 4 x 4 inch (10cm x 10cm) area where the wall meets the ceiling can sometimes harbor a "dead zone" of still air where the smoke would NOT reach the detector quickly enough during a fire to warn you in time. Thus, do NOT mount your detectors too close to where the wall meets the ceiling.

Answer:	Ionization type. I actually looked at at manual to be certain.

Answer:	It may or may not. The issue is the cable impedance. This cable is RG58 is made to have an impedance of 50 or 52 ohms. I believe this specific cable is 52 ohms. You need to determine the impedance of the Direct TV coax. I don't have Direct TV, however my guess is that is 75 ohms if it is like other cable systems. I hasten to add, it may work, however you may suffer degradation and ghosting depending on the interconnect mode. My suggestion; get the cable spec from Direct TV and match it. Good Luck.

Answer:	The gold is a clone of a Klon Gold and the silver is a clone of the Klon silver. The gold Klon is considered the "Holy Grail" of pedals gracing pedalboards from Warren Haynes to Joe Bonamassa. I can't say that the Gold Ikon sounds just like a Klon, but it's pretty close. I have a closet full of boutique pedals and the Ikon is my favorite.
Question:	Where is the test / silence button? 2 of us have looked over the entire thing & both read through the booklet that came with it. No buttons
Answer:	This pedal sounds quite different than most any delay pedal, it imposes a unique equalization on your tone, Keeley calls it low-fi but what it does is nail the tone commonly found on many of the hit fifties rockabilly recordings. You will find it quite difficult to bring the equalization back to a normal modern full range tone. If you want to reproduce your favorite 50's hits this will do it quite effortlessly, if you don't want that 50 ish tone or more specifically what was produced in the Sun studios of that era, or even the slightly more modern era stray cats guitar tone, look elsewhere. Step on this thing and you have that Sun studio tone, instantly and unmistakably.

Question:	Can this be connected so the strobe works as soon as power is applied, say from a smart plug
Answer:	From my experience this device only begins strobing once the main alarm goes off. It will always have a delay between the main alarm that actually does the smoke detecting and this strobing device which doesn’t do any smoke detecting on its own. By law I believe they need to be wired in. There might be other types of strobing alarms that actually do the smoke detecting themselves, but I don’t think these do from what I remember. If you are testing your alarm you need to let the smoke detector ring for a couple of seconds before the strobe goes off.

Answer:	Two totally different pedals. I own both, and the Ikon is very transparent - it is about as close to an original Klon as any "Klone" out there. The Dude is all character - and very NOT transparent. I believe the marketing pegs the Dude as a Dumble-esque vibe; that may be a hit of hyperbole, but it is in that vein and sounds really good. My chain is guitar -> volume pedal -> wah-> comp -> Fulltone OCD -> Dude -> analog delay -> Archer Ikon -> Lonestar Special. The Ikon is always on with my Tele's and Strats. The OCD is set pretty crunchy and the Dude is set just beyond breakup. The Ikon is setup just like a Klon with gain very low ( 3-o'clock.) The amp is set to just at breakup with master volume bypassed. Between the two amp-like overdrives, the boost from the Ikon and the class-A amp set that way, I have most tones from fat clean to Angus-like crunch covered with just the pickup selector and my guitar's volume tone. I usually tap the Ikon off if I plug in with a humbucker-ed guitar. Both pedals are very usable; if I had to pick one, it'd be the Ikon, but it really is an apples and oranges comparison.

Installation:

1.Turn the alarm body counterclockwise and take off the bracket.

2.Hold the bracket in the installation position as specified in the Recommended Locations,mark installation holes of the bracket with pencil.

3.Drill the two marked installation holes with a 3/16 inch(5mm)drill bit.Tap the two plastic gromments into holes with hammer.

4.Mount the bracket to the ceiling by inserting and tightening the supplied screws into plastic grommets.(Refer to Diagram 7).

6.Fix the battery to power connector.

WiFi and network configuration

A) Launch the app, click "Add Device" --- "Security Sensor" --- "Sensor (WiFi) '/" Smoke (WiFi) ".

B) Press and hold the "Test" button for 5s until the LED flashes with a short beep of "di" (press and hold the button within 20 seconds after charging the battery to enter WiFi setup mode).

C) Click "OK" in the APP --- enter the password for WiFi, click "OK", the detector enters setup mode which lasts for 60s max.

A LONG "di" beep with LED indicator on for 10s means the WiFi setup is complete. When the WiFi setup fails, the detector exits setup mode with a short 'Di Di' beep.

WiFi network status: When the LED indicator is on for 10s after charging the battery, it means the detector is successfully connected to WiFi.
