Answer:	It pulls too much current for most battery backups, a generator will run it fine.

Answer:	Just received my Wayne CDU980E. I, too, was concerned with this question. Power cord measures about 90-inches (7.5-feet) from where it connects to the top of the sump motor (which is about 11-inches above the bottom of the pump). I can't find this marked on Wayne's literature for the CDU980E.
Question:	When the pump is switched on by the floater, how long does it run
Answer:	If there is merely water in the sump pit, you don't need this powerful a pump. This 3/4 HP pump is for handling major water flowing into the pit. When that happens in our cellar, the pump runs until it out-runs the flow of incoming water.-- sometimes for minutes sometimes for hours. We have 4 sump installations in 4 buildings. When the water table (level of the ground water in the outside ground) is high, three of these systems pump a lot of the time and pretty constantly. We have 2 pumps in each pit so if one fails we do not get flooded. Each Pump (if more than one in the system) needs to have a check valve/ back-flow preventer so it will force the other pumps to actually pump the water up and out and not allow an operating pump to to just pump back out through the other , (not then pumping) pump. The should also be placed at different levels so they don't necessariy go on at the same time, thus reserving one as a kind of back up. Of course, if there is really a lot of incoming water -- which we had when we first bought our house, it takes both pumps to handle the in flow and avoid flooding. NOw that we use the large diameter PVC piping, it works so much better that a single pump pof this size would probably be fine. It is best to pipe the pumps with real PVC pipe and in 1 1/2" or 2" size. This will increase the flow rate by around twice as much flow as the skinny (1 1/4") highresistance black curly-sided plastic pipe they often come with. Good luck and stay dry.
Question:	when you say 'top suction' does this mean the pu,p must be totally submerged
Answer:	The pump draws water from the "LOWER" part of the pump a few inches off the floor. It does not have to be completely submerged to draw water. When the bulb float rises enough to turn on the float switch it sucks water. It turns on before the water reaches the top of the pump. I use this one and I know. Hope this helps someone.

Answer:	I use this pump to circulate water from a bottom pond (2000 gallons) to a top pond (900 gallons) for a waterfall. The water is pushed through 30 feet of 1.5 inch tubing up an incline of 5 feet. This pump circulates our water volume very well.
Question:	Does this have a threaded intake to allow connection of solid PVC pipe
Answer:	hello....I am presently far away from the pump (Az) in Europe and will not return back to Az before the end of August...sorry! Yet, I seem to recall that it did not have a threaded intake and I hooked it up to the PVC pipe with a short flex and clamps....hope it helps! I believe you meant "outtake" and not "intake" since the "intake" (where it "takes" the water in) is located underneath the pump itself, no hose, no pipe?
Question:	CAN YOU USE ONE INCH TUBING
Answer:	You can use any size tubing with the proper adapters however one must remember that using a small diameter tubing will increase the resistance and turbulence through the tube thus greatly reducing its flow capacity (its a logarithmic function). These types of pumps can handle high resistance on the output side however not at the input end so hopefully you are only referring to choking down the output and are willing to sacrifice the huge drop in flow as a result (note: expect a large pressure increase, similar to putting your thumb over the end of a water hose).
Question:	I'm confused. it's listed as a 3100gph but on the website it says maximum flow rate of 1100gph. which is it
Answer:	Hi Steve, the gph of any pump depends on the head pressure working against it. The Cyclone PAL3100 pumps 3100 gph at zero head. It pumps 2,251 gph at 5' of head, 1390 at 10' of head and 479 gph at 15' of head (according to the manufacturers literature). Head is roughly calculated by adding three things together, 1' of head for every foot of height from the surface of the pond to the highest point that the water will be pumped (if you could measure it straight up), another 1' of head for every 10' of tubing length, and another 1' for every sharp turn or obstacle like a UV unit or a 90 degree elbow). Answer:	Did you go to amazon or check sellers site for contact info ? Are you plugged into a ground fault electrical outlet /? If so you do have a bad pump just keep trying to contact the seller . Notify amazon you will get a FAST ANSWER the seller will be kicked off amazon !!!!

Answer:	It does have an intake valve, but you have to cut part of the plastic end off (and thus voiding the warranty) to access it. I did this - though to attach a UV filter, not a hose. I didn't have a dremel, but it would have made it a lot easier to make that cut. There's probably a better pump you don't have to do this for. When this one goes on me, I'll find one I don't have to modify.
Question:	What size fountain attachment can work with this
Answer:	Your question is a little vague... are you asking what size tubing you can attach? Or are you asking how high the pump will lift the water? It connects to 2inch inner diameter pipe on the outlet, and on the intake as well if you desire. I personally left the screen on the intake side and put an adapter on the outlet side and connected 3" pipe. The pump specs say it will lift 26feet high. I have about 35feet of 3inch pipe going to a Y, where it splits into 2 waterfalls.

Answer:	It depends how big of a water fall you’re looking for. The tube isn’t very big. It will definitely pump it up there (tube is about 2 feet), but not a significant “Waterfall” amount of water comes out. Unless you’re filling an area with water that will then fall, I’d go bigger. I use this filter to move about 2 gallons of water, and it’s no rapids.

Answer:	The voltage is 120 and the watts is 45 watts... using Ohms law P= E x I where I is equal to the voltage divided by the Power in watts the current measured in amps is .375 amps. Answer:	When choosing a pump, try to figure out how much water you need (how many gallons per minute GPM),and how high the water has to climb ( vertical head) and the last thing to figure in is pipe size. You can adjust the start height manually and then never worry again about the flooding or about the pump working dry and damaging the motor. After one minute of dry use the pump will turn itself off automatically to prevent jamming.

Question:	Does this kit come with the battery housing? I know that you have to purchase the battery & acid separate, but wondering what else I have to buy
Answer:	No, this kit doesn't come with the battery housing (assuming you mean a 'box' to house the battery), but you don't need to buy anything else. For clarity you need this kit, and I can attest to how good and effective it is, well-constructed and very reliable, you then need the battery and the acid. Beware of a few things; the acid is not quite as life and death as it makes out, just take your time. Also the import duty is hefty for both the pump and the battery, but overall well worth the money and peace of mind. Finally don't pick the pump up by the floatation device, it is very tempting, and when you get it you'll see what I mean but you need to use the handle. Hope you enjoy.
