Answer:	The tank is vented and not under pressure. The faucet will be used to allow cold water under pressure to enter the tank. But they are quarter-inch copper tube connections so you may have to put together some fittings and adapters to hook them up.The tube delivering hot water is s high temp silicone rubber hose not under any pressure.

Answer:	I had the AH-1300 for 6 years. Was out of town when my guests said the tube coming from the middle of the unit was bent (was actually melted). They stopped using it and i should have told them to unplug it. The next day a bad burnt electric smell was coming out of the unit (and all through the kitchen). I unplugged. When I took it apart the circuit board where things are plugged into was all melted and burnt. I don’t know why the plastic return was melted to the extent it bent and would not let the unit fill with water. I feel like this is why it burnt itself. A water heater with no water in it! But the Ruben has to melt for some other reason to cause the problem to begin with. At $120 it’s not really worth fixing and it should be an easy swap out with the same fittings.

Answer:	Yes they are designed slightly long to create the upper and lower seal. Located on the bottom of the water filter sump and the under side of the filter head are sharp circular rings. These rings cut into the water filter cartridge to create the seal. The cartridge is made of polypropylene which is slightly pliable. Therefore when the filter sump is screwed to the head the cartridge gets squeezed and the rings create a circular crease on the bottom and top of the cartridge creating a seal.

Answer:	You have to put the filter on the cold water side to do that, and yes they help keep all kinds of stuff out but it is not a water softener as in sand trap filters or distilling processes the water. I have included the following explanation:Hot Water Protector Technical InformationThe "Hot Water Protector" type cartridges will protect plumbing systems, especially hot water systems, from corrosion and scale accumulation. The active ingredient is FDA approved Siliphos. This contains an ideal combination of orthophosphates and polyphosphates. The orthophosphates react with naturally occurring calcium bicarbonates in the water supply to form a thin, tight, non-corrosive, passivating film on pipe walls. This film is almost like a glass coating, separating the water from the metal plumbing/hot water system. The polyphosphate ingredient sequesters hardness mineral content. Normally if there is significant calcium bicarbonate (soluble hardness) in the water supply it will revert to calcium carbonate (insoluble precipitate) when heated. Calcium carbonate is referred to as scale. This scale creates incredible inefficiency. 1/8" scale formation in a hot water system can increase energy demands 30-40%. Also scale will reduce water pressure by clogging pipes downstream.The sequestration characteristics of the polyphosphate ingredient react with the hardness ions and prohibit them from precipitating to a solid as they otherwise would.
