Question:	My house is wired 110V. What additional items do I need to purchase for the conversion
Answer:	Just to expand slightly on prior answers, normally a residential service feed is 240 volts between the two incoming hot legs. There is also a neutral leg, which (hopefully) has zero potential with reference to ground. The voltage between either one of the hot legs and the neutral leg is 120 volts. The 120 volt circuits in your house are connected to one or the other of the two hot legs, and only one. An attempt is made to assign circuits to the two hot legs in a way that will roughly balance the load between them. The other side of a 120 volt circuit is connected to the neutral leg. There is additionally a safety ground run with the circuit, which also ties into the panel. Certain devices require more power (work product of current and voltage) than is practical to deliver using a 120 volt circuit. Common examples are your clothes dryer, and your electric stove. These devices are powered by both hot legs, with a difference in potential of 240 volts. Answer:	The National Electrical Code requires conductors and overcurrent protection to be sized at 100% of the manufacturer's branch circuit recommendation for tankless electric water heaters. A 60 amp breaker is the same price as a 40 or 50, it is the wire that costs more. #6 AWG wire is required for a 60 amp circuit. If you undersize the wire it could overheat and catch fire. Answer:	The expansion tank for this heater is not required. Most people already have these installed in their homes but if not then it would be Ok without it as there is a pressure relief valve on top if something happened. GlobalTowne is an authorized Bosch distributor.
Question:	would this be able to supply a shower
Answer:	A standard flow shower head is around 2.5 gallons per minute. A low flow head is around 1.5 gallons per minute. The recovery rate for a 90 degree temperature rise is 6.8 gallons per hour! So even the 7.5 gallon unit would only provide 4 minutes of shower time before the temp dropped off dramatically. (even at the low flow rate..)
Question:	Can be used "in-line with a large hot water source"? Would it help a large bathtub that runs out of hot water before it gets full from main tank
Answer:	If your bathtub is bigger than your main heater tank, this unit isn't going to do much for you. It will add 2.5, 4, or 7 gallons to the capacity of your main tank, depending on which Bosch unit you buy. The 7 gallon unit requires a specially wired circuit. You will also get a little bit of lukewarm water that was in the line between your main heater and the Bosch unit. Unless your main tank is awfully small and your bathtub massive, the 4 gallon unit should work for you. Maybe a demand type thankless heater in your bathtub hot water feed would be a better choice, but be careful to size it properly for your desired flow rate and temperature rise. Also a tankless is likely to require special wiring.
Question:	When this heater is connected to the hot water line, what happens with the cold water that was sitting in the pipes
Answer:	When the tap is opened, the hot water in the unit flows out. The colder water that was sitting upstream of the unit, enters the unit to be heated. If the tap remains open, the newly heated water flows out, being replaced eventually, (depending on the distance to the main water heater), with the water from the main water heater. You will probably set the unit temperature to equal the main water heater temperature, if you want to keep a constant temperature, but other scenarios are possible.

Answer:	Most rinnai tankless weather it is out door or indoor, have a control board to adjust temp and either on or off

Answer:	I bought model V65EN. It came with a wired digital controller. The installer did not run the wire into the house and mount the controller indoors. He simply set the controller at 120 degrees and left the controller inside the unit. If I want to change the temp, I have to take the cover of the unit.

Question:	How do know which size to buy? We will supply two bathrooms, dish washer, clothes washer. What size should I choose
Answer:	I noted someone below stating they got the largest one and they can only run one water source at a time. My guess is they installed it wrong by not getting the electric hooked up right, or maybe the unit was just defective, or they live in Alaska. I went under size with an Eco 27 a few years ago because that’s all my electric panel could handle. We have zero issues in the summer. During winter months we can only run one shower at a time and have to slowly fill a tub (maybe 3/4 fill speed). To save as much money as I am on electric bill and have unlimited shower lengths (only 1 person at a time mid-Dec to mid-March) is totally worth it. On here today because I’m thinking of upping my panel size so was thinking of going with a larger one now. Regardless, CCRC’s experience with the largest unit not working is nothing like the experience I’ve had, and again I intentionally undersized mine for the house. The website has a clear chart to explain size you need based on number of water fixtures in your home and ground water temperature.

Answer:	In the lower states it can, but in the northern states, multiple simultaneous users, it will be overloaded. If you can afford a 3,700 square foot home, then you can place a unit in each appropriate demand zone and be very glad you did. I love mine, live in KY, get great supply when the water is above 60 degrees, and then it slows the flow as the temperature drops. I have dishwasher, washing machine, garden tube, 2 showers, 3 sinks and 4 people. It is better than great in the summer, okay spring and fall, and we are conservative in the winter.
Question:	What is the power consumption of this tank-less heater
Answer:	The instantaneous power consumption while the hot water is running is quite high (up to 18kW or 27kW depending on which model you’re looking at on this page). However, when no hot water is being used, the power consumption is 0 (or a minuscule amount to run an LED light or something). The total power consumption over the course of several days or longer should be much lower than a tank heater but the short term power usage while the heater is making hot water will be much higher than a tank heater. It’s just that the unit sits idle most of the time while a tank heater will use power fairly frequently even when no hot water is needed as the water in the tank cools off over time and needs to be re-heater fairly constantly

It draws 1440 watts or 12 amps at 120v. Since 14 ga wire must be fused for 15 amps, this device by itself is already at 80% of the circuit’s capacity.

Rennai told me that I should have bought their thankless heater with re-circulation built in.

Answer:	The recommended wire is 8/2 and there is not a limit to distance written in the install directions. You need to check with your electrician. Make sure he is state license and insured. Answer:	There is no specific installation kit. However, we suggest using flexible braided hose connections that screw onto the hot and cold water for the first 18" or so. These connections are easy to remove to check a filter screen or if needed to work on the unit in general. The connections are 3/4" NPT. The water heater connector are both G1/2(brass), Not suggest to use tape on connector, if you use tape at the interface of the outlet pipe, the water will slowly infiltrate into the water heater, the amount of seepage is very little and not easy to find. As time goes by, the water which infiltrate in water heater turns into steam, with the steam increases, the circuit is shorted and the water heater may burn out.

The problem of water not hot: the body temperature is generally 37 ° C (98.6 ° F), the temperature within 6 ° C changes, you feel the basic feeling of warm water, so the water temperature is 42 ° C (107.6 ° F), you may still feel just warm, not hot. As shown in picture 3, unless the inlet water temperature is high and the speed is low, the water temperature will be high, so generally you will only feel the water is warm, not cool, but not hot. Common Faults and Solutions:

1. Under normal power-on conditions, the water flow turns on, the water heater displays the temperature, but the temperature does not rise, there are 2 possibilities: the first is that the temperature control switch (overheat protection switch) inside the water heater has tripped. Control switch, it can be restored. The other is the heating tube failure, replace the heat tube

2. If there is a display of no heating, the display shows rotating, but no temperature is displayed, indicating that the water flow has not passed through the water heater, or the water pressure is too low, and the water pressure needs to be adjusted; , Then check the water heater inlet turbine, it may be that the turbine is stuck, causing the water heater to not start.

3. It is recommended that the length of the water heater inlet pipe should not exceed 3 meters. If it exceeds, there may be a water pressure difference due to the length of the water pipe, and the water pressure is not enough to start. (If the water tank is used for water, the water tank is required to be placed higher than 10 meters to make the water pressure Reached the start value)

4. The display shows E1, E4/E5 means temperature sensor failure, first cut off the power, run the machine with cold water, and then power on; the heating tube failure displays E2, means the heating tube needs to be replaced.

Water Temperature

CAN this unit be connected inline with existing hot water line?

ANWSER: It is recommended not to use it in series with other water heaters. If it is installed on a hot water pipe, the water heater will reheat to above 60 degrees. There is a 60-degree over-temperature power failure inside the machine. After the power is off, the temperature control switch in the machine will jump. If you want to restore manually, you must open the back cover of the water heater machine. There is an overheat protection switch button next to the heating pipe. It can be restored by pressing it. If you do not go to the restore button, the water heater will not work and heat, so we generally do not recommend installing it in the heat The water pipe is directly installed on the cold water pipe. It is recommended that the inlet water temperature should not exceed 30 degrees

CAN we set two of these up would 1 preheat water to warm & the other heat it to hot for higher temperatures at higher flow rates?

ANWSER: NOT recommended, when two water heaters are used together, it will reach 6000w, and there will be high requirements for wires. For safety, it is not recommended to use this.
