14 best wet tile cutters

Wet tile cutters, also known as tile masonry saws, are specialized power tools used in the construction and home improvement industries for cutting various types of tiles, including ceramic, porcelain, marble, and stone. These tools are specifically designed to provide clean and precise cuts, especially when dealing with tiles that are difficult to cut with traditional hand tools. Here are some key features and information about wet tile cutters:

  1. Water Cooling System: One of the defining features of wet tile cutters is their water cooling system. They incorporate a water reservoir and a pump that continuously supplies water to the cutting blade. This serves multiple purposes, including reducing dust, cooling the blade, and lubricating the cutting process. It helps prevent overheating and ensures a smoother, cleaner cut.

  2. Blade Types: Wet tile cutters come with various blade types, including diamond blades. Diamond blades are known for their exceptional durability and ability to cut through hard materials like tiles. The type of blade used depends on the tile material being cut.

  3. Accuracy and Precision: These machines are designed for precision and accuracy. They allow for straight cuts, angle cuts, bevel cuts, and even intricate designs, making them suitable for a wide range of tile cutting tasks.

  4. Portability: Some wet tile cutters are portable and compact, designed for ease of transportation and use on job sites.Others are larger and more stationary, suitable for professional workshops.

  5. Safety Features: Wet tile cutters typically come with safety features such as blade guards and splash guards to protect the operator from water spray and debris. It's important to wear appropriate safety gear, including eye protection and hearing protection when using these tools.

  6. Tile Size and Thickness: Wet tile cutters can handle different sizes and thicknesses of tiles. The cutting capacity depends on the specific model and blade size.

  7. Electric and Gas-Powered Models: Wet tile cutters are available in both electric and gas-powered models. Electric models are more common and suitable for most applications, while gas-powered models are used in situations where electricity is not readily available.

  8. Maintenance: Regular maintenance, including cleaning the water system, inspecting and replacing worn blades, and checking for any loose or damaged parts, is essential to keep the wet tile cutter in good working condition.

  9. Applications: Wet tile cutters are used by professional tile installers, contractors, and DIY enthusiasts for various applications, including cutting tiles for floors, walls, backsplashes, countertops, and decorative tile work.

  10. Cost: The cost of wet tile cutters varies depending on factors such as size, power source, brand, and features. Smaller, more basic models are generally more affordable, while larger and more advanced models can be more expensive.

In summary, wet tile cutters are specialized power tools designed for cutting tiles with precision and cleanliness. They incorporate a water cooling system, diamond blades, and various safety features to ensure efficient and accurate tile cutting. These tools are widely used in the construction and home improvement industries for a variety of tiling applications.

User questions & answers

Question: this saw comes w/a diamond blade. would it be good enough to cut little glass mosaic tiles or should I order a different diamond blade
Answer: The blade will cut through the glass tiles just fine, however, I would suggest purchasing a thinner more durable blade. I purchased a Ridgid 7" blade from Home Depot. The Ridgid blade make cleaner cuts and wastes less material because it is a thinner blade. Also, Skil just came out with a new updated model of this saw. I would suggest purchasing that saw instead because it has some much needed improvements. Here is some information on the new saw: https://www.skiltools.com/Tools/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?model=3550-01.
Question: What is the biggest size of tile this saw can be used for to do diagonal cuts
Answer: am sure you can cut even 24x24 in. tile. to cut straight get 1x1x 20--24 in, wood and clamp under the table as your guide to cut straight, hope this will help. skil power tools are great and cheaper than MK
Question: Would this be a good saw to cut rocks in half
Answer: Depends on the size of the rock. The material is not an issue -- I use it to cut agates and quartz up to a couple inches in size. The important thing is to go slow and make sure to keep the cut wet.
Question: Will this saw cut peanut brittle? We are currently struggling with the batch we just made and we need to find a good way to cut it
Answer: i'M SORRY, BUT NO THIS WILL NOT CUT THE BRITTLE. this saw was designed for tile, brick and old tootsie rolls only. the reason tht is, the hamsters in the the motor are allergic to peanuts and a few other foods. seeing as how we all love fluffy hamsters, they gave them work instead of turning them away( that and hamsters have a ton of kids!!). the saw you are looking for has gophers in the drive motor( 2 x's the power for those thick piece's of brittle), that have been thoroughly screened for any deadly allergies to tree nuts and dairy, not to mention sock puppets and shoe polish as well. i do suggest that if you are going to buy the gopher powered brittle slicer 3000xlr made by Skill'dG( skilled gophers), to make sure you are getting the real thing, and not a cheap australian clone. contact the gopher union work force development office and they will give you a list of all non gopher supported and wallaby knock offs and a wallet sized card for easy recognition of their branded products. They may ask for a donation, but it's well worth the $120 to join their non members club. You get free holes in your green, and much, much more. Good luck on your quest, and may the spork be with you.

User questions & answers

Question: how thick will this cut
Answer: I would say 1:4, if you are cutting porcelain that thick take it slow, natural stone will cut easier. I highly recommend this saw, I use it for small jobs, it’s really great in tight spaces. In my opinion it’s the better of the smaller wet saws as I prefer a rolling table for more accurate cuts. I however use an MK on my bigger jobs and large format tile and stone and it’s a beast with no limitations but cost about 10x what this saw cost. I do a lot of baths and kitchens and I love it!
Question: Alway problems substituting other brand blades - and can't find PC replacement blades - can anyone confirm good to excellent substitute
Answer: I've tried several after market blades with this saw. The problem I've experienced is the original PC blade produces a slightly wider cut, allowing the tile to get past the guard support in the back. The blades I've tried produce a thinner cut that prevent the tile from passing around the guard support. I'll try the Pearl P4 7 inch to see if it works, although 50$ is a gamble I'd rather not bet on.
Question: Can this saw cut glass tiles
Answer: It can cut glass but without buying a blade specifically for glass tiles you might be disappointed. Every tile installer I know has several different blades always on hand for the abundance of materials thrown at him. Glass Master is a good glass blade and manual cutters often do excellent. With the stock blade you will get some chipping along the cut. Which could be polished out with extra effort. If you can handle chipping go for it.
Question: Does this saw do miter cuts? Can you angle the blade, or the table
Answer: Yes, this table saw does simple mitre cuts. The blade is fixed. The table is fixed (does not angle for a compound mitre cut). The product is positioned on the (right) cutting cart that feeds the tile to the blade. The saw comes with a miter square for basic angle cuts.

User questions & answers

Question: How do you change the blade on this
Answer: There is a blade lock and it should have come with a tool to change it
Question: Gfci corded
Answer: Yes,it is
Question: Can this make a curved cut, say for around a toilet application
Answer: The way to make inside curves is to cut parallel "fingers" and snap them off. Then use the saw blade to grind it to the line. Remember that the blade is cutting from top so you'll need to either flip the tile to grind the back or use a grinder. You can use a regular tile saw that way as well.
Question: Could you cut geodes with this saw? With a diamond blade
Answer: It would certainly cut into the geode, but depending on the wall thickness as to whether it will cut into the cavity.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this machine come already assembled
Answer: All tapcon screws require the correct size pilot hole be made first. After that depending on the size you may not even need any drill.
Question: Will this saw cut slate roof tiles
Answer: Xbox is the drill only . No batteries or kit.
Question: What is the arbor size on this saw
Answer: I don't think so, but I have not tried!
Question: Can you cut a 21in tile
Answer: It is better to use a hammer drill and special masonry drills for concrete. This drill would do it slowly and might wear out the masonry drill faster.

User questions & answers

Question: where can i get replacement pads for the Superior Tile Cutter
Answer: Yes it did, it lasted for a small bath floor (hexagonal porcelain tile) and had to be replaced midway thru 3x6 ceramic tiles. Still working through another bath tile job... tho for the 24” tiles we had to make a couple cuts due to the narrower space between the blade and the side mount....
Question: Is the rib/ridge on base (what the tile gets snapped against) supposed to go all the way to the fence? Mine stops short about almost 1/4". Thanks
Answer: China
Question: Where can i get replacement cutter wheels
Answer: It cuts glass tile so it should cut all glass however I don't think a bottle will fit between the blade and table it's less than 2"
Question: I need to cut 3/8" marble tile, both 1/2" x 1/2" and 1/2" x 2" tiles. Will this cutter work for me
Answer: Maybe brick, but I think you would burn the saw motor out with rocks. They are really tough to cut

User questions & answers

Question: Will this cut dmall glass tiles
Answer: Hola, puedes cortar baldosas grandes, pero necesitas usar el metodo de 2 manos y aplicar presión inclinándote tambien.
Question: Has anyone tried to cut pavers with this disc
Answer: yes, on tile provided with purchase, worked well, I only want it for glass work, and so far, it keeps surprising me with how well it works
Question: With eye protection and a mask can this blade be used with a circular saw? Only need a few 1" tile cuts without tile saw
Answer: Hi there, the Amazing Tile And Glass Cutter is not designed to Cut Vinyl Tile because it is not actually a sharp blade, it is Just an Extremely Hard Wheel like Diamond so when Scoring, it Actually Weakens the Glass or the Harder Side of the Tile. Then the breaker bends the Glass or Tile and because it is a rigid material it follows the weakness and breaks cleanly. As Vinyl tile is a relatively soft material it will need to be cut with a sharp blade and whilst it can be bent over a table edge, it cannot be split in the same way a Tile can. Hope this helps Paul.

The 72 lb. Combi 250VA is Imer's bread and butter 10" tile saw. This saw sets the standard for overhead rail saws for cutting tile and stone on the jobsite. It includes the new Imer 1.75 hp class-leading motor. Aircraft quality cast aluminum materials make for a rigid and light weight saw which will maintain its finish for years to come. This makes the saw extremely easy to clean: just spray with WD-40 and wipe clean. For additional accuracy, the 250VA includes a laser guide. This improves accuracy, a feature this saw was known for already! This allows very accurate chip free cutting, as grout joints and slab look installation sare more and more common. Sealed bushings ensure plunge cuts are smooth and precise. Comes with blade, stand and accessory side table. The feet on the stand are rubber so the stand won't slip on or scratch the floor.
