The amount of work exceeded the company's capacity by far, but its owner could not afford to increase the headcount. The only solution was to ensure his men produced more work. M. DEWALT built a yoke, which he connected directly to a motor and a saw. He then fitted it onto a standard arm. User questions & answers
Question: | Where I can get battery and charger |
Answer: | The puzzle is very easy for me. If the 12 year old does puzzles a lot they will have a lot of fun doing it. Take your time and enjoy it with all the different shaped puzzle pieces. I think they can do it. |
Question: | How does this saw compare to the corded version (the dw331k)? is it just as powerful? which is better if portability is a convenience not a necessity |
Answer: | Hello, thank you for the question "Inhabited Fish" comes in one size Image size 12.2" x 9.45", 130 pieces. |
Question: | Does the saw have a work light |
Answer: | Each puzzle has a different # of pieces, each box will have the # on it but it is also in the design description. |
Question: | Can this cut through metal i own an illegally operated business breaking down cars and im currently using a corded version |
Answer: | It's a cheap, easy puzzle. There are lots of different textures in the photograph, and the shapes of the pieces are distinctive. The quality is mediocre. Although it had all its pieces, the cardboard was relatively thin; and the colors, in my copy at least, were washed out. There are better quality puzzles out there if you're looking for something to do more than once or to frame. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the current model that is shipping type 1 or type 20. If you look up the parts diagram the type 20 has a different slide mechanism part number |
Answer: | I bought a new one today from a lumberyard and it is a Type 1. (says right on the sticker on the motor) Not sure if that means the slide mechanism is better or worse than the Type 20. I would assume it was made in 2014 because there is a "Dewalt use only" tag on the box which starts with 2014. Not sure if a "fresher" saw is a Type 20 |
Question: | Can xps be added, i know dewalt makes a kit to add it to some saws, but this model was not listed |
Answer: | mmToolparts actually sells a kit (3 proprietary DeWalt parts + their wiring harness) for less than $70. They have videos on their website that show how to install the parts on DW716, DWS779, and DWS782 saws. You will need some additional tools (torx screw drivers or torx bits, wire strippers/cutter/crimper) and somewhat mechanically inclined. Just google "DWS779 xps light kit" and they should be the top result. This might be an easier option versus going to a DeWalt service center in the post pandemic world. |
Question: | Does this miter saw come with a laser or any guiding system |
Answer: | It does not come with any laser for guidance. You may find my answer a bit crude, I've been using miter saws for many years and the best guiding system I found to work is my/your eyes. Having lasers or no lasers you still need to use your eyes to get the work piece spot on near the cutoff point. Hope this helps! |
Question: | Is there an LED cut line |
Answer: | You can add the LED light to this saw. Not a laser but a shadow light that show exactly where the saw blade will cut. I just did it last night. Parts can be had for about $70. This basically turns it into a model 780 which is much more expensive. Pretty simple to add. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this router run on 220-240V power, or only |
Answer: | The router requires 110V |
Question: | is it made in usa or china |
Answer: | No.....Mexico |
Question: | What kind of router bits are good for this router ? Or are any compatible |
Answer: | This router has both a 1/4" and 1/2" collet so it will accept both size shank bits. I prefer the buy 1/2" shank myself especially in larger bits, they are a little more expensive but seem to run better and last longer. When it comes to brands of router bit Freud is always the first place I shop. I have also had really good success with CMT and Bosch because my local big box store doesn't carry Freud. One thing I will saw about router bits is its always better to buy quality bits they will last for years and produce better results. Amazon has some nice bits sets that come with a lot of common bits that are nice for a person new to the router. |
Question: | Can anyone explain the difference between this kit DW618PKB and the DW618PK kit? Are the routers / bases the same |
Answer: | They are both the same tools. The only difference is that DW618PK includes a hard plastic case. Whereas, the DW618PKB includes a cloth carrying bag. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this machine the same as the 735 w/o the extra blades and infeed and outfeed tables |
Answer: | Yes it is the same as the standard 735. As to the ware on the blades - I've planed over 300bf in the 6 years that I've had this unit. I missed a label staple on the end of a board and now have a 1/32nd hairline strip that shows and I easily clean up with a scraper. I also purchased an extra set of HSS (high speed steel) knives and put the money out ($158 for the set) for carbide edged which I only use on the last phase of the construction. I've got an older 13" planer that I use strictly for rough plane jobs and paint and varnish removal when I recycle older woodwork. |
Question: | How much thickness does this take, when used just for finishing? i have ok smooth oak in 13/16", would like it ++smooth but can't give more than |
Answer: | You can take as little or as much off as you want. It is measurable down to about 1/64" but if there is any cupping or warping within the board that may vary a bit. I would recommend a random orbital sander going up to 320 grit to get a ++smooth surface |
Question: | How easy is it to change blades on this planer? Thanks |
Answer: | Easy, about 10-15 minutes: 1) Remove four 5/32nds" headed screws to remove the top yellow cowling. 2) Remove 3 red thumbscrews to remove the black dust shroud - clean out any blocked wood chips. 3) Remove eight 5/32nds" headed screws on each of the three blades. 4) Flip the blades, or sharpen if they've already been flipped. 5) Reassemble in the reverse order. If using a power drill with a 5/32nd inch allen wrench head (e.g., https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VH7ZQGC or something similar), set the drill on medium torque and it will take about 10 minutes. (If you manually unscrew the screws using the T handled allen wrench it will take twice as long.) If careful (having heard of the others stories), it doesn't seem hard to to remove/replace the screws with enough torque to seat them properly, but not so hard that they get struck. I'm planing very hard madrone wood, and the blades have lasted about 150-200 lineal feet of wood that is about a foot wide before needing replacing. Use the #1 (slow) feed speed for hard woods - I didn't know about this until reading the manual... |
Question: | Does this planer have a 2.5" or 4" dust ejector port? Thanks |
Answer: | It has a 2.5" port with a 4" adapter. Follow the useful advice from the other folks, use the 4" adapter with a 4" hose/duct. Cheers 🥃 |

13", heavy duty, portable 2 speed thickness planer.
The DEWALT DW735 features a three-knife cutterhead and a powerful 15 amp motor that delivers 10,000 rpm. It offers quick, accurate depth adjustment and the convenience of knives that are both reversible and disposable. This fully featured portable planer makes it easy to create clean custom stock.
Powerful 15 Amp Motor for Clean CutsBenchtop planers are a long-term investment that allow you to save money over time by buying rough stock and dimensioning it yourself. They also make creating custom materials easier, which, in turn, makes getting great results easier.
The DW735 13-Inch Planer's powerful 15 amp motor can handle deep cuts in tough hardwoods. Its three-knife cutterhead and two-speed gearbox deliver 96 or 179 cuts per inch (cpi). Use 96 cpi when dimensioning material and 179 cpi for a finer finish.
Reversible, Disposable Knives for Convenience
The DEWALT DW734 uses razor sharp knives that are reversible and disposable. These knives last 30 percent longer than traditional disposable knives, helping you avoid costly and time-consuming resharpening.
For fast, easy, one-tool knife changes, a set of pins machined on the cutter-head goes through holes machined on the knife. This helps you quickly locate the fresh knife and refasten the knife clamp.
Large Capacity and Easy, Accurate Depth Adjustment
This planer's extra-long infeed and outfeed tables provide 33-1/2 inches of material support. A turret depth stop saves you time when setting the machine at commonly used depths.
In addition, the planer's material-removal gauge and extra-large thickness scale help ensure every pass is accurate. A four-column carriage lock drastically reduces the movement that causes material damage, or snipe, when planning near the end of a board.
This sturdy planer weighs 80 pounds. It offers a maximum cut depth of 1/8 inch, a depth capacity of 6 inches, and a width capacity of 12-1/2 inches.
Fan-Assisted Chip Ejection for Dust Management
The DW735 features a Fan-Assisted Chip Ejection System with a motorized fan that breaks down debris as it leaves the cutterhead and blows it into one of the two dust shrouds (included). One shroud disperses the chips down onto the shop floor while the other provides a connection for a vacuum hose or dust-collector hose.
This sturdy planer weighs 92 pounds. It offers a maximum cut depth of 1/8 inch, a depth capacity of 6 inches, and a width capacity of 13 inches.
The DW735 13-Inch Thickness Two-Speed Planer with Three-Knife Cutterhead also comes with a DEWALT warranty package that includes a three-year limited warranty, a one-year free service contract, and a 90-day money-back guarantee.
What's in the Box
DW735 DEWALT 13-Inch Thickness Two-Speed Planer with Three-Knife Cutterhead, dust-hose adapter, and dust-ejection chute.
From the Manufacturer
The DW735 13-inch thickness planer from DeWalt provides best in class surface finish through a one of a kind three knife cutter-head--even in hard to plane figured woods. At 96 or 179 cuts per inch, the DW735 offers the finist finish via the most cuts per inch available on a benchtop thickness planer. A fan-assisted chip ejection system aids in the removal of debris and prevents excess chips from marring your material. The unique automatic carriage lock minimizes the movement that causes snipe without engaging a lever before and after each pass. A solid 19-3/4-inch cast aluminum base provides twice the rigidity of traditional material support systems that utilize folding tables. The DW735 is a must for the serious woodworker.

User questions & answers
Question: | The edge guide shown in the picture is included |
Answer: | The clear base with the flat edge guide is included. |
Question: | does it come with bit? If I want to buy bits, is there any particular kind I should look for |
Answer: | No, it does not come with any bits, And they require 1/4" bits, other than that, that's it. There is a whole world of selection out there. There is also 1/2" bits; they are used by more heavy duty routers. |
Question: | can you use both 1/4 and 1/2 in collets |
Answer: | From an experienced woodworker: this router comes with a 0.25” collet (for 0.25” shanks). However, if you have a 0.50” collet (for 0.50” shanks) this will work IF the router bit head is smaller than 1-⅜”, that is your limitation, the base. Also beware that larger bits can bog down the router as it is only 1.25 hp, that larger 618 would be a better choice. Straight bits and round overs are good bit to limit this use. Chamfers and raised panel type bits should be avoided. There’s a lot of terms in these precious answers which are confused and misinformation. |
Question: | To anyone who has this router mounted on a router table: would you please share your experience? Thanks |
Answer: | Sure. It will work fine for light duty table routing using 1/4” bits. It’s pretty robust for what is basically a trim router. Keep in mind the larger bits are all 1/2” and will not fit this router’s collet. The 1/2” bits are designed for heavy duty work on large routers. In other words, it will work, but only for light duty work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the Diameter of the motor itself with no base |
Answer: | It's 3.5". Technically my micrometer measures 3.497" motor only. Took off the base, turned the unit upside down and measured. |
Question: | Hello, please does it can work too with 230V |
Answer: | It only works on 120 volts. |
Question: | Does it come with a collet for router bits with a 1/2 inch shank? We should not need to ask this |
Answer: | Mine came with both 1/2 and 1/4 collets. I use this router in a table and free hand and it performs flawlessly. Beware of buying an edge guide. Dewalt labeled the fence/edge guides different. So if you buy a 618 edge guide it won't fit cause it's for the palm router. |
Question: | I want to buy a simple Router table. I own the DW618, am new to woodwork, but do not know what is compatable. Can it mount to the Bosch RA |
Answer: | Yes. The router is mounted on a heavy aluminum plate that is attached to the table top. The top then must be secured on the table. I suggest plugging the router into the switch box before putting the plate in place. There are multiple holes in the plate to accept various manufacturers routers. The Dewalt fits securely in one. If I remember correctly, you may need to purchase one or mrs extra screws of the correct length to attach it. The table works beautifully, but the only downside is that height adjustment is awkward (you must reach under the table, pushing the router up with one hand while rotating the adjustment dial. Or reverse the table, use blocks to lift it above the exposed router bit, and adjust as you would without the table being present. Since I clamp the table onto a bench to get it to a comfortable height, I push up and rotate it from below to simplify my work. Since a full rotation of the dial is known (forget if it is 1/8" or not, I am not at home & don't remember) I do the adjustment blindly, using a vernier caliper or wood pieces of known thickness to accomplish this. I know that there are some router/table combinations that allow fine adjustment from above (I believe it is built into the router). This is the only drawback to this system. However, I have used the Dewalt/Bosch combination for some time now with excellent results, even on long heavy boards. The trick is to properly secure the table and move the piece slowly and smoothly against the fence. Remember, when routing, less is more. |

Benchtop planers are a long-term investment that allow you to buy rough stock and dimension it yourself. They also make creating custom materials easier, which, makes getting great results easier.
This planer's powerful 15 amp motor handles a wide range of tough hardwoods, and its three-knife cutterhead spins at 10,000 RPM to provide 96 cuts per inch.
Effective Dust and Debris Management
The DW734 planer includes a dust hood that attaches to a shop vacuum or standing dust collector (sold separately) for efficient collection of chips and debris.
This DW734 12-1/2-Inch Thickness Planer with Three Knife Cutterhead comes with a DEWALT warranty package that includes a three-year limited warranty, a one-year free service contract, and a 90-day money-back guarantee.

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone tried planning off paint on cedar with this machine? I have hundreds of feet to recycle |
Answer: | yes. I've removed paint and finish with this.. not on cedar, but on mahogany and oak. However, do keep in mind that this will greatly impact the working life of the blades. But that's a small price to pay for such convenience. I say go for it. You'll love the result and it sure beats sanding or scraping with a card scraper. |
Question: | Can the in-feed and out-feed rollers or carriage lock be adjusted to reduce snipe |
Answer: | Make the last or final pass a very minimul cut depth ie. 1/64. This helps with snipe. The bigger the cut, the more snipe you will get. Make sure the material is support flat against the table as it begins the cut, and on the exit table as well. The pressure rollers tend to make the board 'tip' as it enters and exits (this is typical in any planer, even the big industrial ones found in mill houses). As far as waxing the tables, i much prefer to use a table top silicon type lube usually sold in spray cans at your local wood supply. These leave a non build moisture resistant film that will not only make the table very slick, but leave no waxy residue that can transfer to your lumber and cause finishing issues. Wax that transfers to your lumber can act as a release agent when applying typical lacquer base or poly type finishes. Last but not least, some snipe is considered acceptable from any planer. It's just the way it is. Always start with a board thats a few inches longer than finish length and plan on cutting off the ends. These little planers are better than most, but you can never plan on not haveing some snipe. |
Question: | My first project with this will be planing 8"-10" wide Jatoba planks. How many linear feet can I expect to get out of one set of knives |
Answer: | i really can not tell you , i still running my first set of knives and i have ran many hundred of feet thru , and they still run great we run oak, pine ,maple ,ash, walnut, beech , lot of oak &ash |
Question: | are you happy with this purchase? or do you wish you got the 13" model with 2 speeds for $150 more |
Answer: | I'm a hobbyist and have had the DW734 for about a year now. Most of my planning had been hardwoods, Maple, Cherry, Walnut and some Purple Heart. None of them have had complicated figure. The widest board I've run through the machine was about a 9" glue up. I've gotten very good results and virtually no tear out. For my purposes an extra 1/2" in width and 2 speeds wouldn't make any difference in my projects. For me, this was a great buy. Depending on your needs, your results may var :) |

Question: | can this model be used in router table (no dust protection |
Answer: | yes I put mine in a stand wright away works great. Thanks DavidA |
Question: | What will the 2.25 HP Dewalt router do that this will not? Differences |
Answer: | Well it depends a lot on what purpose you are using it for. The HP claims are pretty much worthless as both will be equal in terms of mid-size routing. The major flaw the 2.25HP (DW618. I'll refer to it as "618". Whereas this is the DW616... SO, "616") has is it cannot be used in an upside down router table without blowing up bearings in it. THE 616 is fine in a table. Also, the 616 has a quick start vs 618 which is a slow start. This means the 616 is running full speed at start, while the 618 starts slow and takes a second or two to build up speed. Both have advantages, and disadvantages. The BIGGEST issue for myself and others is that the 618 motor has... well... fire problems. Lol. That motor does not like extended use and with eat up brushes like mad. The 616 might have a bit less power, but its basically unnoticeable if you are using good sharp bits. Most importantly... the 616 (the "weaker" of the 2) tends to handle a lengthy runtime without catching fire lol. Personally, I prefer the 616 when it comes to mid-range routers. It has plenty of power, even with hardwoods, and larger bits. If you are planning on closing giant bits, or surface planing, I'd recommend neither and point you to a larger plunge base style of router with much greater strength, but a much higher weight. |
