User questions & answers

Question: will this drill work with an old bl1830, 3.0 Ah battery
Answer: yes
Question: Has Makita fixed the issue with this particular drill getting stuck in Hammer mode
Answer: Mine is about 1 month old and I have tested it in all 3 modes, no problem. Only thing I dont like is it is very hard to turn the dial between the 3 modes. I assume the folks that had it become stuck in hammer mode actually were using it as a hammer drill. I only turned it to hammer mode but didnt do any actual drilling into concrete, maybe I should try that and then answer.
Question: Is it possible to put a handle on this like the larger hammer drill
Answer: Yes but you need to get that attachment separate. I had it from my old drill and it fit just fine
Question: Will this drill accept my existing makita 18v 3.0ah lithium ion batteries (model # bl1830), or do i need to get a new battery
Answer: I have four "old" Makita batteries: 2 each of BL1825 & BL1830; all fit and function perfectly.

User questions & answers

Question: What is included in the box hammer driver-drill, depth gauge (122576-8) tool belt clip (346317-0) xph07 side handle (126413-8) and dc18rc charger
Answer: Have not done exactly what you need, but I have used it to bore 1" holes in 2x4s no problem. It's quite powerful and the "handle" helps w/ stability.
Question: Could you use this to polish your car if using the car polish adaptor
Answer: I purchased the drill only, so I do not have a hands on answer regarding the drill bits. However, the drill bit collection packaging does not indicate a masonry bit (and I would not expect one in a generic small bit collection).
Question: How to charge the battery power line 115 or 220 Vault
Answer: I just use a generic tool bag for the drill.
Question: can this drill fit in the standard plastic Makita combo case
Answer: It definitely does not have a gradual start, as some have indicated in the reviews. The lightest first contact in the trigger yields around 300 RPM's unloaded on my drill (I checked with my touch-tach). With the level of power this drill offers, even at this lowest trigger position the drill won't stall without a large amount of load. If you need delicate low-speed operation such as fastener driving, look for a smaller drill (perhaps a 3/8" VSR?). If you need a drill that will work continuously poking 3/8" to 13/16" holes in up to 3/8" thick steel as I did, this is your drill.

Answer: Charger and batteries and sold separately. Drill is awesome
Question: Is there a case I can buy for this hammer drill
Answer: It's kinda short for doing that unless you are on your knees....it's really not designed for that. it's great for drilling into masonry, brick, concrete..... i would use something like a small jackhammer type tool...and probably corded if you've got a lot of dirt to "chip."
Question: Does it comes with the battery charger
Answer: It is definitely 120V must be a typo
Question: Is this model good for chipping dirt?Or should i get the longer barrel model that cost about $100 less? If its noticably more powerful i'll take this
Answer: Taiwan. Beautiful drill but if you need an actual jack hammer. Get the max. Limited to 1 inch rotary hammer bit, and the SDS plus chisels are pititful for anything but small scale slow go chipping.
