Answer:	It definitely does not have a gradual start, as some have indicated in the reviews. The lightest first contact in the trigger yields around 300 RPM's unloaded on my drill (I checked with my touch-tach). With the level of power this drill offers, even at this lowest trigger position the drill won't stall without a large amount of load. If you need delicate low-speed operation such as fastener driving, look for a smaller drill (perhaps a 3/8" VSR?). If you need a drill that will work continuously poking 3/8" to 13/16" holes in up to 3/8" thick steel as I did, this is your drill.

Answer:	It's kinda short for doing that unless you are on your knees....it's really not designed for that. it's great for drilling into masonry, brick, concrete..... i would use something like a small jackhammer type tool...and probably corded if you've got a lot of dirt to "chip."

Answer:	Taiwan. Beautiful drill but if you need an actual jack hammer. Get the max. Limited to 1 inch rotary hammer bit, and the SDS plus chisels are pititful for anything but small scale slow go chipping.

If you are not satisfied with any Makita Lithium-Ion tool within 30 days of purchase, return it and Makita will provide, at Makita's option, a replacement or refund. Each Makita Lithium-Ion Power Tool, Battery and Charger is warranted to be free of defects from workmanship and materials for the period of Three Years from the date of original purchase. Should any trouble develop during the three-year period for the Lithium-Ion Power Tool, Battery and/or Charger, return the Complete Power Tool, Battery and/or Charger, freight prepaid, to one of Makita's Factory or Authorized Service Centers.

Question:	Can the "hammer" feature be turned off when drilling? I like the feature for concrete but not for drilling wood
Answer:	Yes, they are nice to cut steaks. I don’t put my knifes in the dishwasher so not sure how they hold up. The handles are wood so I would not recommend putting them in the dishwasher.
Question:	Has anyone had trouble with this getting stuck in hammer mode? considering this vs xph12 which seems to have that issue

Answer:	No .. It does not come with a drill bit .. I bought bits that would suit my needs and have read other owners requirements are different than mine so they use different bits ..
