9 best table saw blades
Table saw blades are essential components of a table saw, a versatile power tool commonly used in woodworking and construction. These blades play a crucial role in determining the quality and precision of cuts made with the table saw. Here's what you need to know about table saw blades:
Blade Types: Table saw blades come in various types, each designed for specific cutting tasks. Common types include rip-cut blades, cross-cut blades, combination blades, and dado blades. The choice of blade type depends on the intended use and the type of material you plan to cut.
Tooth Configuration: The number and arrangement of teeth on a table saw blade impact the quality and efficiency of cuts. Blades with more teeth (higher tooth count) generally produce smoother, finer cuts, while blades with fewer teeth are better suited for rough or fast cuts.
Tooth Grind: Blades can have different tooth grinds, such as flat-top (FT), alternate top bevel (ATB), and triple-chip grind (TCG). Each grind type is suitable for specific materials and cutting applications. For example, an ATB grind is excellent for cross-cutting wood, while TCG blades are used for cutting non-ferrous metals and composite materials.
Blade Diameter: The diameter of the table saw blade determines the maximum depth of cut the saw can achieve. Common sizes range from 8 inches to 12 inches or more. Smaller blades are typically used for portable table saws, while larger blades are used on stationary cabinet saws.
Arbor Size: The arbor size of the blade must match the arbor size of your table saw.Common arbor sizes are 5/8 inch and 1 inch. Using a blade with the correct arbor size is crucial for safety and proper operation.
Kerf Width: The kerf width is the width of the cut made by the blade. Different blades have varying kerf widths, which can affect the amount of material removed and the efficiency of the saw.
Material Compatibility: Some table saw blades are designed for specific materials, such as wood, plywood, metal, or plastics. Using the right blade for the material you are cutting ensures clean and efficient cuts.
Coating and Materials: Blades may have special coatings, such as carbide tips or anti-friction coatings, to enhance durability and reduce heat buildup during cutting. Carbide-tipped blades are known for their long-lasting sharpness.
Safety Considerations: Always follow safety guidelines when using table saw blades. Ensure the blade is properly installed and tightened, use appropriate safety equipment, and be cautious while making cuts to avoid kickback and other potential hazards.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance, such as cleaning and sharpening, can extend the lifespan of table saw blades and maintain their cutting performance.
In summary, table saw blades are critical components of table saws, and choosing the right blade for your specific cutting needs is essential for achieving accurate and efficient results in woodworking and construction projects. Understanding the various blade types, tooth configurations, and other factors will help you make informed decisions when selecting a table saw blade.

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these really made in China |
Answer: | From what I have read, the Diablo series is made in Italy but who knows what really goes on these days? I am happy with the blade and at the price it is a good value. Could they have been made in Italy at one time and then sourced/made in another country later on? I can't say. |
Question: | Why are the vents just printed on |
Answer: | The vents are actually through-cut, then filled with a rubbery material. They really do work. These blades are far quieter than the stock blades that come on most saws. |
Question: | Would you recommend this blade for ripping finished hardwood? I am looking for a good blade for ripping cabinet fillers, etc |
Answer: | It depends on what the cabinets are made out of. If they're solid wood, yes absolutely this blade will do great, it leaves almost sanded smooth edges if your saw is setup right. If its plywood, or particle board, or mdf, I'd use a diablo blade meant for that kind of wood like the freud d1090x 90 tooth blade, that will leave sanded smooth edges on a plywood board, and wont tear up your veneer like the 50 tooth blade might. |
Question: | Would this blade cut a flat bottom dado |
Answer: | No - The better version, if you want to make smooth multiple passes for a dado is the more expensive, Freud LU84R011 which has a flat bottom edge on the first tooth after each gullet. |
Product description
In many woodworking shops, one saw must serve multiple purposes. It must rip a piece of 4/4 oak and also crosscut a sheet of 3/4" plywood. The groups of five teeth include one flat tooth for ripping, followed by four alternate top bevel teeth for crosscutting and a large gullet for effective clearance. This blade also features laser cut anti-vibration slots, practically eliminating the vibration that resonates in standard blades. With this ultimate combination blade, there is no need for stabilizers.
The 10-inch Freud LU84R011 Combination Saw Blade with Perma-SHIELD offers a configuration that pairs flat teeth and alternating-top-bevel teeth to ensure strong performance both when ripping and when crosscutting. Also offering TiCo high-density carbide tips, laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that eliminate the need for stabilizers, and Freud's Perma-SHIELD coating to prevent the buildup of friction and heat, this multi-purpose blade is built for lasting convenience.
Combination Tooth Design for Versatility and AccuracyThis blade's 50 teeth are arranged in groups of five, each of which includes one flat-top raker tooth for fast, accurate ripping. Each flat tooth is followed by four alternating-top-bevel (ATB) teeth that are particularly well suited to crosscutting, and large gullets between the teeth ensure effective chip clearance.
This blade is designed for optimal performance when crosscutting materials that are 3/4 to 3-1/2 inches thick or ripping materials that are 3/8 to 1-1/2 inches thick. It makes quick work of hard- and softwood, plywood, and chipboard. It can also handle laminates or tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 5/8-inch arbor and produces a .126 kerf.
Well-Balanced, Anti-Vibration Design
This Freud blade is precision balanced and pretensioned for truer cuts under heavy loads. It also features laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that reduce chatter for a cleaner finish, longer blade life, and reduced noise while you work. And because the entire blade is laser cut from high-strength steel, you can trust that it will stay stable, flat, and true, even after prolonged use. Furthermore, this well-balanced, anti-vibration design means there's no need to use add-on stabilizers with this blade.
High-Density Carbide for Maximum Cutting Performance
This combination saw blade's 50 teeth are finished with tips made from Freud's application- specific TiCo high-density carbide "combination blend." Formulated to help the blade maintain a sharp cutting edge for longer when faced with a variety of applications, this blend includes just a little bit more high-density tungsten carbide than other TiCo blends. And it still offers the full mix of improved corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and impact resistance that you expect from TiCo.
With teeth that start out sharper and deliver improved edge retention, the blade can go longer between sharpening, and will hold up longer--saving you time and money.
Perma-SHIELD Coating Reduces Friction and Heat Buildup
Built to withstand tough use in less-than-ideal conditions, this blade is finished with Freud's red Perma-SHIELD--a non-stick coating that reduces friction and nearly eliminates the heat buildup that excess friction can cause. By providing complete thermal insulation, this coating protects your tools and your work surface. And it resists binding when the blade is used for large-volume cutting applications, which reduces blade warp.
As a lubricating feature, Perma-SHIELD allows the blade to spin freely while reducing stress on the motor and carriage of your saw. In addition, this coating helps prevent debris collection and resin or "pitch" buildup. Since gummy pitch buildup causes extra drag on the motor of your saw, less buildup is another little convenience that translates into longer tool life and longer blade life. It also means less downtime for blade cleaning, so you get jobs done faster.
This industrial saw blade is backed by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.

Answer: | No, it is convex. |
Question: | Why am I experiencing significant burning (smoke) with this blade? The original blade on my new saw didn't experience this. I constantly have to clean |
Answer: | Probably not the blade. I would double check saw alignment, and use a proper splitter on rip cuts. Good luck,John |
Question: | can this blade cut thin steel 22 gauge |
Answer: | No. It is not intended for that purpose. This is a high quality wood cutting blade with carbine tips. Using it to cut metal could be dangerous. Don't do it. Use a blade meant for cutting metal. |
Question: | Is this the correct blade for a radial arm saw |
Answer: | no it is not .. Radial arm saws have a different Hook angle on the teeth. It is between 5 degrees and 0 degrees. This blade is 12 to 15 degrees. designed for a table saw. |
Question: | Does is work to cut laminate-flooring |
Answer: | That's what I used it for. I put down oak laminate in the kitchen, hallway, and guest bath using a Dewalt chop saw without any problems. BTW, cut it face side up. |
Question: | Can this blade be used on a Rigid cordless saw |
Answer: | I don't think Rigid has a 10" cordless saw. But the arbor is standard 5/8" |
Question: | Can I take this saw blade shaft (razor !) 1 3/16 not |
Answer: | Yes, you can not (razor !) |
Question: | I need to cut both laminate flooring and wall paneling. will the blades do both and should i cut with the finished side up? signed: a lady woodworker |
Answer: | I used this to cut laminate and it worked fantastic. I did about 600Sq.Ft with many cuts and still using the blade for other cuts without any issue. Still cuts like the first time I used it |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this fit a Dewalt 10inch miter saw |
Answer: | It should,i see why not,i put it in some no mame 10in miter saw and it fit perfectly |
Question: | Do you think this would be good for acrylic and lexan |
Answer: | I am not sure. The times I have cut plastics, I have used a finer toothed blade. The kerf is narrow so I think it may work if the feed rate is slow. Contact Makita customer service. i'm sure they will help you choose a suitable blade. |
Question: | would this blade "do" with cutting pergo laminate flooring |
Answer: | Cutting laminate flooring is a great way to dull your blade so, if possible use an older blade rather than trashing a brand new blade. I ended the life of an older blade cutting laminate flooring for a small 10 x 12 room - it really was that dramatic - the blade burned wood afterward. But 80 tooth is makes for a smooth cut in laminate. |
Question: | what the difference between a miter saw blade and a table saw blade |
Answer: | There is no difference. A 10" 80t blade is ideal for cutting melamine or wood whete you want a clean cut with less chipping. There is no difference. You can get the frued triple chip blades and I have had good luck with those. |

Answer: | I personally would buy a higher tooth count for more expensive lumber but stick with diablo:) |
Question: | Is this American made |
Answer: | I just bought the D1060X at HD. It is made in Italy, but I notice some manufacturers (eg. Irwin) are selling blades from both China and Italy. |
Question: | how thin is the actual cut kerf |
Answer: | Good question. I did not actually measure the kerf, but definitely less than the usual 1/8 inch. I would speculate 1/10 or under. |

MIBRO's 8" Stacking Dado cuts a smooth and precise flat-bottomed groove, either across or with the grain in all types of wood, plywood and composite wood materials.
This set can cut grooves ranging in width from 1/4" to 13/16", increasing in 1/16" increments.
Use the Dado to make a variety of different cuts, including Dado, Groove, Rabbet, Fillet, and Mortise & Tenon.
8" Outside Cutting Blades
Two blades:
8" diameter.
24 Carbide Teeth.
5/8" Arbor Hole.
5,000 Max RPM.
Both blades have a tooth pattern of 5 beveled cutting teeth, followed by 1 straight raker tooth.
Anti-kickback tooth profile prevents the blade from being fed material too quickly.
Blade Technology
Each tooth is electronically welded onto the blade body by fully-automated equipment from Germany. This ensures exact, centered placement and the correct amount of brazing material.
Extra large carbide teeth make for longer lasting blades and overall life. Premium carbide helps to ensure the carbide does not chip or fracture easily.
5 Chipper Blades
1/16" Chipper.
1/8" Chipper.
Each Chipper Blade features two extra-large carbide teeth, which are also electronically welded onto the blade body by fully-automated equipment from Germany.
The Chipper Blades are ground on the same equipment, at the same time, as the Outside Blades. This ensures that all of the blades together will cut a flat-bottomed groove.
7 Metal Shims
Width ranges from 0.004" to 0.096".
3-5/32" Diameter.
5/8" Arbor Hole.
Shims allow for very fine adjustments to the overall width of the Dado setup.
Clean Edges, Square Shoulders & Flat Bottoms.
The Dado in Action.
Outside Cutting Blade Tooth Configuration
8" x 24 Teeth.
5 Beveled Teeth, followed by 1 Flat-Top Raker Tooth.

User questions & answers
Question: | I´m from Uruguay, sorry for my english!, what can i do if my center is not 5/8?, my machine´s center ir 20mm |
Answer: | I am not sure what 20MM is- but on most saws if your arbor is not 5/8" the diamond shaped " knock out" around the the 5/8 hole will come out and fit a matching diamond shape raised portion on your saw to lock in the blade. Not sure if that makes sense- if you had a picture of your saw, it could help. |
Question: | Is this a flat tooth blade |
Answer: | No, it is not a flat tooth blade. |
Question: | Is this compatible with the riving knife included with the DWE |
Answer: | probably. the riving knife should be the same. they are set up for the saw kerf. your manual should tell you what blades to use |
Question: | Does dewalt sell an 8 - 1/4 "fine finishing" blade for the flexvolt 60 volt table saw |
Answer: | Sorry I can not help I bought this for a circular saw not a table saw |
