Question:	Is the current model that is shipping type 1 or type 20. If you look up the parts diagram the type 20 has a different slide mechanism part number
Answer:	I bought a new one today from a lumberyard and it is a Type 1. (says right on the sticker on the motor) Not sure if that means the slide mechanism is better or worse than the Type 20. I would assume it was made in 2014 because there is a "Dewalt use only" tag on the box which starts with 2014. Not sure if a "fresher" saw is a Type 20

Answer:	mmToolparts actually sells a kit (3 proprietary DeWalt parts + their wiring harness) for less than $70. They have videos on their website that show how to install the parts on DW716, DWS779, and DWS782 saws. You will need some additional tools (torx screw drivers or torx bits, wire strippers/cutter/crimper) and somewhat mechanically inclined. Just google "DWS779 xps light kit" and they should be the top result. This might be an easier option versus going to a DeWalt service center in the post pandemic world.
Question:	Does this miter saw come with a laser or any guiding system
Answer:	It does not come with any laser for guidance. You may find my answer a bit crude, I've been using miter saws for many years and the best guiding system I found to work is my/your eyes. Having lasers or no lasers you still need to use your eyes to get the work piece spot on near the cutoff point. Hope this helps!
Question:	Is there an LED cut line
Answer:	You can add the LED light to this saw. Not a laser but a shadow light that show exactly where the saw blade will cut. I just did it last night. Parts can be had for about $70. This basically turns it into a model 780 which is much more expensive. Pretty simple to add.

Answer:	It may?? I am using my stand with a Hitachi 10" miter saw but it is not sliding.. It has good balance and I have not had any issues with it yet.I did have to mount a piece of plywood on the stand and the saw to the plywood but other than that it works well. Centering the saw on the stand will probably be the key with a sliding set up.

Answer:	The UK version (Bosch GCM 12 GDL Professional) ships with an included non battery powered laser that produces two lines that bracket the saw kerf. Not sure why Bosch made the laser layout tool an extra for USA version. There are other differences between these models and the UK 240V version has more options as stardard equipment.

Answer:	Yes, it has a depth stop. The saw cuts very nice and it glides effortlessly, u must adjust the drag on it. When cutting dadoes, it does not hang up like rail type saws when the fine dust finds its way into the rail bearings like the Dewalt I used to use. It was an expensive investment in a saw, but i really like it so much more then any of my previous sliding compound saws.

Answer:	SGT .several reasons i chose this saw over the 5312. first off I run a high end custom cabinet shop and this saw sees very heavy uses. The sliding rails on the type of the Bosh 5312 always get dust in the bearings and with time the sliding action sticks and must be taken apart, the bearings cleaned and re-lubed with dry silicone lubricant. That is what my experience was with my last 3 sliding saws, (Dewalt, Ryobe and Dewalt pro). the other thing i love about the Bosch GCM12SD its there are no rails sticking out the back of the saw, and the clearance from the wall where my saw sits is no longer needed. It was a great investment even though its on the pricy side. i love the accuracy and the performance, I change to a better cutting blade and the performance got better. I switch from the stock blade and now run a Forrest CM12806115 Chopmaster 12 inch 80 tooth blade cleaner cuts and very smother with no tear outs. i hope this helps you

Answer:	The saw was sufficiently packaged to protect it during shipping. I got mine in perfect condition. The manufacturer's packaging took care of most of the protection, and I'm pretty sure it was over-boxed as well. Hope this helps, and enjoy the saw. I haven't had a ton of use from mine yet, but have done several smaller projects with just a few cuts and have been pleased with the performance (it's not a cheap toy) and ease of handling. The size and weight make it easy to get it out and start cutting, then put away quickly when the job is done.

Question:	I see the vertical max is 3 5/8, but could this cut 4x4 lumber
Answer:	No not with one cut. You would have to turn the 4x4 over. Blade is a 7 1/4" diameter, same as a hand held circular saw. From the tip of the teeth to the edge of the washer (at center of blade) I get 2 7/8".
Question:	What's the cross cut capacity if we use the entire sliding action
Answer:	On a straight 90, I can cut 8" wide boards. On a 45, I can cut right around 5-7/8". This saw was a great addition for me, as I'm constantly working in places away from a simple power source (my generator is a beast and not easy to transport). It cuts cleanly, hasn't bogged down yet (even on wet 2x6 treated), and is super light and easy to transport.

Answer:	Adapters DWV9120, DWV9130 or DWV9150 are compatible.
Question:	Can you put a metal cutting blade on it to cut steel tubing
Answer:	Good question and I don't see any reason why not depending on the thickness of the tubing. I have a Dewalt chop saw I used to cut aluminum studs when I was refinishing my basement and it cut just fine with a metal cutting blade. It was a 10" vs 12" saw however. Motors and Amp rating was the same as my DW 716 Mite Saw. May want to ping someone at DeWalt or search thier web site. May not be the right thing to do but you could ask someone at one of the Big Box Home Improvement stores as well.
Question:	on dewalt's site it says this model is 3800rpm on here it says 3500rpm is this an older model
Answer:	On the saw that I bought 2 months ago, it says 3800 rpm on the motor casing.
Question:	Is the only difference between the DW716 and DW716 with XPS, the LED
Answer:	Dewalt 716 Type 20 will accept a light. You'll spend 75 on a handle, power supply, and led. MM Tool parts has the kit. The light is worth it.

Answer:	Yes ! It’s heavy . I purchased the portable miter table with wheels from harbor freight to roll it around but you still have to take it on and off the table before beginning to move saw . Example; when putting it in and out the bed of a truck you have to attach and detach the saw

Question:	After the saw is mounted on the brackets can it then be removed fromt he stand quickly for storage
Answer:	Yes There are two bars with handles that are attached to the bottom of the saw with bolts (you can see them in the picture). You put the saw&bars&handles assembly on the stand's horizontal tubes, slide the assembly where you want it on the tubes, and rotate the handles down to lock it into place To remove the saw from the stand, you just rotate the handles up and lift the saw&bars&hanles assembly off the stand. I assume that you would store the saw with the bars&handles attached for easy replacement onto the stand. To remove the bars&handles from the saw, you'd have to remove the bolts.
Question:	Basic stand question. Some answers say 29" top, some say 33. Whiich is it for the stand without wheels
Answer:	29 inch. Add 3 in for the saw.
Question:	Can anyone tell me, what is the exact height (ground to top surface) of the miter saw mounting brackets
Answer:	Yeah, I get about 29 inches when I measure . That is not really that high for a miter saw stand.
