Answer:	The angle that it comes with really doesn't matter. I end up changing, or keeping, the factory angle when I grind it, and I grind quite often, like every 15min! This is a good solid roughing gouge. I have this one inch, and the larger two inch roughing gouge. I've had them for over 3 years. I sharpen my roughing gouges to somewhere around 45 degrees, depending on the wood. Harder wood more acute, softer wood more obtuse, I never check my "angle" with a protractor. Having said all this, I rarely use roughing gouges, in preference of a 5/8 bowl gouge when roughing out logs for bowl, hollow forms, and spindles. Good luck!!!

Answer:	Use a 1/4 inch drill bit to drill a pilot hole then use this to enlarge hole to the desired diameter. That will prolong the life of this bit. This is more for thin metals 1/8" - 1/16" thickness. If your drilling a lot of holes in metal and you know the size diameter you need you should look into a carbide hole saw and some cutting oil like tap magic. It would depend on the thickness of the smokers aswell. Hope that helps.
