12 best post hole spades

A post hole spade, also known as a post hole digger or manual auger, is a hand tool used for digging holes in the ground, typically for installing fence posts, signposts, or other similar structures. It is related to power drill accessories like auger drill bits, which serve the same purpose but are powered by a drill. Here's what you need to know about post hole spades:

  1. Design: A post hole spade consists of two long, narrow blades or scoops attached to wooden or metal handles. The blades are designed to scoop out soil as you twist the tool into the ground.

  2. Manual Operation: Post hole spades are manually operated tools, requiring physical effort to dig holes. They are suitable for smaller projects and areas where power equipment may not be practical or accessible.

  3. Sizes: Post hole spades come in various sizes, with blade diameters ranging from a few inches to over a foot. The size you choose depends on the diameter and depth of the hole you need to dig.

  4. Applications: Post hole spades are commonly used for:

    • Installing fence posts: They create holes that are just the right size for setting fence posts securely.
    • Planting trees or shrubs: Post hole spades help dig holes for planting larger plants.
    • Installing signposts, mailbox posts, or flagpoles: They provide stable foundations for various outdoor structures.
  5. Depth Control: Some post hole spades come with depth markers or guides to help you dig holes to a specific depth, ensuring consistency in your project.

  6. Usage Tips:

    • It's essential to soften the ground before using a post hole spade. Dry or compacted soil can make digging more challenging.
    • Use your body weight and leverage to push the spade into the ground and twist it to remove soil.
    • Clear soil from the blades regularly to maintain efficiency.
    • Wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves and sturdy footwear.
  7. Auger Drill Bits: While post hole spades are manual tools, auger drill bits are power tool accessories designed for use with electric or cordless drills. They are more efficient for digging holes quickly, especially in tougher soil conditions. Auger drill bits have a spiraling design that allows them to remove soil as they rotate.

  8. Maintenance: Keep your post hole spade clean and dry after use to prevent rust. Check for any signs of wear, such as loose handles or damaged blades, and repair or replace as needed.

  9. Safety: When using any digging tool, exercise caution to avoid injury. Be aware of underground utilities, rocks, and obstacles that may be encountered while digging.

Post hole spades are essential tools for various outdoor projects that require digging holes. Choosing the right size and maintaining the tool properly will ensure it serves you well for years to come.

User questions & answers

Question: Can i get handle replacements for my dig ez
Answer: I don't know if you broke the handles using these things are heavy,I don't know if you can get replacement handles are not .
Question: Is this the "X shaft" style or the old straight shaft style
Answer: It is somewhat of an X shaft design, but not in the same way that the Fiskars ones are. It is designed more with a lever action similar to bolt cutters. In this design the handles don’t need to be spread as far open as traditional post hole diggers to grab ahold of the dirt and it grabs the dirt with more holding force and therefore is less likely to drop the dirt as you are lifting it out of the hole.
Question: Can i get handle replacements for my dig ez
Answer: I have never had a handle break so I do not know if you can get a handle replacement and my oldest unit is 15 years old
Question: How deep a hole will it dig
Answer: I dig 42” holes with it all the time with no problem. Can go deeper too, but I am a deck contractor and that is the depth we are required to go here in CT to be below the frost level.

User questions & answers

Question: There is absolutely no info on this product. How much does it weigh
Answer: I’m sorry. That message was supposed to go to a Different seller. I also purchased a 30 Day Starter Kit in the Red Box. For tension and conflict for cats. They didn’t give me the 2 Refills that I paid for, for that treatment.
Question: Are the handles steel
Answer: American
Question: Do these have wooden handles
Answer: This one says it is a maternal pheromone that calms cats. And is not recommended for aggression in cats. So depending on your intended use of the product it's impact on your cat should be the same. We are actually using both in our household. This one for our nervous cat and Feliway for the cat that has been acting aggressive toward him. Hope this helps.
Question: do these have steel handles
Answer: If you are referring to the ThunderEase for Cats and the ThunderEase for Multi-Cat, the difference is the type of pheromones being used. The ThunderEase for Cats mimics the facial pheromone released when a cat is rubbing their face against things while the ThunderEase for Multi-Cat households mimics the pheromones released by a mother nursing her kittens.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the length of the auger bits
Answer: hi, I've never seen visible spray coming out. The diffuser itself can get warm because that's how it works. When you plug it into your outlet, the current makes the diffuser hot and the heat makes the fluid to evaporate. As far as I know, there are many different diffusers in case of technology being used, like ultrasonic ones, nebulizing ones, heating ones, etc....and only those who needs water to operate, have visible spray coming out. The heat diffusers don't have water and are not based on water, so you should not see any sprays. Take care.
Question: Title says 63cc but in the about this item section it states it’s a 87cc, so which is it? Also there is no clear what’s included except looking
Answer: Well I hope it would be improved
