Question:	Replacing batteries on a roof-mounted unit is a pain. I have power there, so can it be modified easily
Answer:	You can convert "anything" battery powered to a AC converted application. Just match your voltage and amperage and seal the hole wire comes through. Easy. Just find a wall wart to match, solder additional lead wires, as required for length. Heat shrink the soldered connection. Given the 4 AA required, and I don't have this unit, my guess is something 5-6 volts with about 800 -1000 mA would work, just check the stats on it.
Question:	I know the manual says batteries in the display are for backup only, but does anyone know about how long it can survive on batteries
Answer:	I bought mine in 2016 & just had to change the batteries today 2/28/2020
Question:	What is the maximum distance between the outside unit and the display? Does the sensor need to be in the shade
Answer:	The distance is 330 ft. However be careful where you place the display from the station. Walls and other things can weaken the signal. It depends on what your house is made of. My house is primarily wood. The signal has no problem reaching the other end of my house (about 150 ft I believe). Also don't place the display near computers or radios or other electronic devices. It can cause interference with your station. Now the outside station it self is does not need shading. I actually recommend you place the station as high as possible (like on a pole on your roof, if you can't, place it no lower than 5ft-6ft from the ground) This ensures that your wind readings are accurate. The thermometer and hydrometer sensors are in the sensor and a internal fan circulates air past the sensors from outside, allowing the temperature readings to stay normal in the sun. Also make sure that station is in a wide open area with nothing around the sensor that could block the wind reaching the station. Typically I would say 50 ft from obstacles but I'm not sure how close. A lot of writing a know but hope this helps you!

Answer:	The display looks as it is shown in the picture. It is a color transparent overlay that the data is displayed on. It is bright and easy to read.

Question:	does it have to be next to a pc and plugged in or can it be on a wireless network
Answer:	I found that putting it on the back of my iMac made the mouse skip a lot. I guess the metal frame of the computer -- or maybe the USB ports -- were interfering. I put it onto a spare USB port on my keyboard and now it works perfectly.

Answer:	I just got this mouse. I work in university and public libraries on a daily basis. You ask a great question, F. Campillo. I can aswer with certainty that this mouse does click, and if you work in those environments, you will not want this mouse. I'm leaving mine at home and going back to the expensive but effective Apple Bluetooth white, buttonless mouse. The Amazon mouse is just loud enough to be a problem to others in a quiet room (especially those sitting next to you or across from you).

Answer:	Info for the mouse is not confusing or conflicting. It is not Bluetooth, but requires the USB receiver. It works with any device with Windows or Mac OS 10; and which have a USB port. So the specs on the MacBook Air need to be checked carefully before buying - some have USB port, some don't. It's that simple.The model No. on the receiver is MGR0975, which is paired with the mouse Model No. B0005EJh6Z4. They are a pair, and yes they work with Apple with OS 10, but you need a USB port for the receiver. Answer:	The same thing happened to me with the outdoor temperature reading. It stayed on 71 for a week. I changed the A-B-C button on the display unit to B for 10 seconds and then switched it back to A. The outdoor temperature then began to display on the unit. I have a 75077 unit.

Answer:	No. It is concave in the back with a slight curveture which really restricts wall mounting. Also, this particular model is very hard to read from any distance. I went with the larger model which can easily be read from across the room.

Answer:	It's been a while since we installed this, I believe the individual internal wires are solid

Answer:	When I ordered my box in August it was cat6. Said so on the box and the wires were marked as such. However I do not recall the description stating cat 5. I am sure if you ordered it and it was wrong Amazon would allow free shipping for the return. One thing to be mindful is that the order may not come with the crimped and ends (mine did not). Nevertheless when I called Amazon to complain they refunded me 20 bucks. Btw my Ethernet run in buried conduit spanned about 110 ft. No issues; everything works great.

Answer:	It comes with a plastic base that the sending unit mounts to. The base has several holes drilled into it for several mounting positions. But no pole or anything comes with it to get it up high or anything. The base is only a couple of inches tall.

Answer:	I have mine mounted on a mast 14 feet off the ground above a 9 foot tall building and 200 ft from the base linking through trees, metal roof and siding, and it works fine.

Answer:	Yes it had a backlight as long as it is plugged up and not on battery. It has two levels to turn down light but does not go black for sleep

Question:	Can i use 2 separate display consoles with the ambient weather ws-2902? i'd like to see readings in 2 different areas of the house
Answer:	I have two display consoles and it works great. One upstairs and one on ground floor. I can see both on-line and on phone via app. I set alerts in case HVAC issues, which is great benefit as well. I ordered WS-2902A-CONSOLE-KIT which is what you need.
Question:	Can it only be line of sight
Answer:	Wireless devices transmit a radio frequency (RF) signal, generally in the 400 – 900 MHz range. The manufacturer will rate the maximum transmission distance as line of sight. However, the signal will transmit through walls and other obstructions. The following is a table of reception loss vs. the transmission medium. Each “wall” or obstruction decreases the transmission range by the factor shown below. Medium RF Signal Strength Reduction Glass (untreated) 5-15% Plastics 10-15% Wood 10-40% Brick 10-40% Concrete 40-80% Metal 90-100% RF will not transmit through metal barriers. If you have aluminum siding or a metal roof, it is unlikely the RF signal will transmit through this barrier. RF will not transmit through earth. For example, if the receiver is placed in the basement, and the earth or ground is obstructing the line of sight transmission, it will not receive the signal. Interference can be an issue. In general, wireless internet, phones, security systems and other low power devices have little interference effect. Ham Radio and other high power applications may lose data when transmitting. Helpful Hint: Wireless phones transmit at similar frequencies and power levels as wireless weather devices. If you have a wireless phone (not a cell phone), place the receiver where you would place the weather station receiver and attempt to use the phone where you would place the transmitter. If you can not use the wireless phone, it is unlikely the weather station will work either.
Question:	Is the outdoor sensor "hi quality"? I have had 2 Acurite outdoor sensors electronics fail in a 1 Yr. I am a full time Rv'r / camp in any weather
Answer:	My Accuwrong failed in the 13th month and support from Accurite was horrible at best. I had an Amibeint for over 10 years but the ws 2902 is not working, they sent me 3 replacement units all with the same issue, NOT TRANSMITTING.
Question:	What differentiates this from higher priced options like the ws-1002-wifi? Software connectivity doesn't matter to me. Are the sensors lower quality
Answer:	No, they are of equal quality. The console on the WS-1002-WiFi is much nicer with multiple screens and TFT display. This is LCD with color film. The WS-2902 is a very capable unit.

The Ambient Weather WS-5000 Ultrasonic Professional Smart Weather Station is the most sophisticated home and light industrial weather station we have ever created. Our smart wind meter has no moving parts to wear out, and includes a revolutionary sonic anemometer that responds quicker to wind, and transmits faster than traditional wind cup designs.



The attractively thin desktop display is also wall mountable. The brilliant, dynamic LCD display is easy to read, day or night, features a light or dark colored background and automatically controlled brightness settings based on time of day. Measured parameters combine with calculated data: 'Feels Like' Temperature (Wind Chill and Heat Index), Dew Point, Gust (the maximum wind speed sampled once per second in the 16 second update period), 10 Minute Wind Speed and Direction Average, Sunrise, Sunset, Moon Phase, Forecast, and more. The WS-5000 also displays minimum and maximum conditions with time and date stamp, historical archived data, which can be exported to SD Card (optional, not included) for advanced data analysis in Excel. The SD Card is also used for firmware updates.



The extra large rain cup insures better accuracy. Since the sensor is wireless, it can be placed close to the ground, and the removable lid makes for easy service and maintenance. The wireless sensor array features a pagoda thermo-hygrometer radiation shield with passive aspiration for the upmost accuracy, a bubble level for plumb installation, and a solar panel.It connects to the console via RF (915 MHz) up to 1000 feet line of sight in open air (300 feet under most conditions). The wireless signal will not pass through solid metal, earth, or ground.



The sensor array mounts to any pole between 1 and 2" diameter with adaptive mounting bracket and U-Bolt design that can be tightened to your mounting pole (not included).

Answer:	You can, but rechargeable batteries do not last as long and do not have the temperature range of alkaline or lithium. Therefore, they are not recommended. You will replace batteries more often and may lose contact on cold days.Regards,Ed
Question:	Can this be used without internet? Would like a weather station for camping in my 5th wheel
Answer:	The correct way to stop the scrolling is when the display scrolls to sensor 1. Just quickly press the SET/CH button. Do not hold or it will go into SETTING mode. Question:	What is the secret to placement for accurate wind and rain, but avoiding direct sun influencing temp reading? Or did you find it accurate regardless
Answer:	Make sure the outside unit isn’t going to be obstructed by anything. I have mine placed about 40 feet away from my home as high as I could get it. You don’t need to worry about the sun giving false readings because of where the outdoor thermometer is located on the unit. I find the wind and temperature reading to be very accurate.
