It could eventually cause the carbon fiber coating to deteriorate and cause delamination of the carbon fiber layers. However that could take quite sometime to get to that point. |

Yes, for many years. But please allow me to submit my CV for you consideration: Thanks to Google, I am aware that Burning Man takes place in the desert and that deserts are hot, dry, and dusty. I am willing to submit my search history if you need to verify this. I have also ridden a bicycle for over 30 years years, as of late I've been logging 7,000 miles a year. I have ridden in many states, a few countries and two continents. This has included all sorts of climates from rain forests to deserts. Again, I can submit logs for verification. I have used many chain lubes over the years and settled on White Lightning long ago. This is more difficult to document as I do not save receipts for this sort of thing, but I hope it does not disqualify me because I really want to meet your expectations and answer your question. Now to your question, "How does this do at Burning Man?". I will assume that you plan to use the product as expected - as a chain lube- and not for some other off label purpose. I understand things can get pretty weird at Burning Man (Google). White Lightning excels in dry, dusty conditions. It does not attract dirt like an oil so grit will not accumulate on the chain and cause premature wear. You don't need to clean it off before reapplying. I do recommend the normal application procedure of applying WL to the pins and then wiping the chain clean, as you would with any chain lube. (I like WL so much that I use it in wet conditions too, it just has to be applied more frequently. For example, get caught in rain? Re lube before the next ride.) My opinion is that it would be the perfect chain lube for Burning Man. That's all I can offer. Only you can decide if it's valuable advice, after carefully evaluating if I know enough to answer your burning question. |
