User questions & answers
Question: | does it come with a sheath? cause I see a sheath bundle option for some reason |
Answer: | Yes. They need to pull that sheath bundle option down. It comes with a very nice Mexican-made sheath. Mexican sheaths are known for the highest hide quality, thickness, craftsmanship. You'll see. |
Question: | Is this a full tang knife? Meaning, does the blade goes all the way through the handle? Thanks |
Answer: | No, this is not a true full tang knife. It has a rat tail tang, meaning it extends the full length of the handle but not even close to the full width, significantly reducing the structural durability. Be warned, this is not a bushcraft knife. This is a combat knife. It was meant for combat, not chopping down trees and processing wood. If you put it through that, don't be surprised when (not if) it breaks. Excellent design for combat use though. I'd take it to Iraq, but not the woods. |
Question: | Are all Ka-Bar's stamped with USMC? Having never served I would not feel right purchasing one with a logo. It would be disrespectful in my eyes |
Answer: | I served in the USN during Gulf War / Operation Desert Shield /Storm . I have one of these with the USMC stamp . I’m getting ready to purchase another . Such a great knife !!! Proud to of served in the USN and proud to own this Kabar 1217 with the USMC honor stamp . It’s all good brother !! ( and to whoever else might have the same thought ). |
Question: | is it made in the U.S |
Answer: | I have purchased one through another outlet. The knife is made in the U.S. The leather sheath is made in Mexico. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why cant this be shipped to california?! I know this stupid state has stupid gun laws but this is just a knife |
Answer: | Since the Big Brother knives have a serrated upper edge California considers it be be a double edged weapon. |
Question: | Is there an option to have a thigh holster with this knife or no |
Answer: | As far as I know, not from the factory. After market would be your best bet. |
Question: | is it made in usa |
Answer: | no not all are made in America.my classic fighter is stamped olean n.y. on the blade. my warthog is painted letters Taiwan 1278 on one side and ka-bar painted on the other. that is how you tell them apart. to make a knife used officially by the military the law says it must be made in America. as a soldiers personal choice its a free for all. but if my life depended on my knife, nothing but American made for me. |
Question: | Why isn't their a blood groove on this blade. Does it effect the bleeding or withdrawl of the knife when dressing a game animal |
Answer: | A more properly named fuller (not blood groove - Hollywood myth) is a many centuries old design. It strengthens the blade like an I beam does. Most combat knives and swords are used to slice and cut. Most especially the curved blades from the near and far east. Poking at someone with a hand knife often encounters a bone. You want to poke use a double edged blade like a dagger. |

Gerber has been making survival knives for the US Military since 1968. The Strong-arm Fixed Blade carries on our legacy of tough-as-hell fixed blade knives for combat and survival applications. With a sheath that can be mounted in a variety of ways, this knife offers reliable use whether on-duty or off. Featuring a fine edge, full tang 420HC blade with black ceramic coating, the Strong-arm was designed around the fundamentals of military survival training. Obtain a solid grip on the knife in all conditions with its diamond-texture rubberized handle. The striking pommel positioned at the base of the handle functions to break through hard surfaces for effective rescue operations, and ceramic coating on the blade offers subtle use through low visual profile, as well as preventing corrosion for long life of the blade. The Strong Arm's modular sheath system is as important as the knife itself. With the sheath's snap-together components, the operator can mount the knife vertically on MOLLE, horizontally on a standard 1.75" tactical belt, or in a traditional drop-leg belt mount fashion. The Strong-arm Fixed Blade is designed and built in Portland, Oregon.
- The StrongArm features a coyote brown handle and fine edge, full tang 420HC steel blade
- Ceramic blade coating and rubberized diamond texture grip
- A striking pommel at the base of the handle breaks through hard surfaces
- Four mounting pieces and sheath can be used for mounting on MOLLE, belt, or in drop-leg fashion
- Proudly made in USA at Gerber's Portland, Oregon factory

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this knife have one of those cancer warning labels on it |
Answer: | Why would it? It's made of steel not lead. |
Question: | Are you all going yo send what I ordered for the 40$ or pretend you had shipping problems and raise the price |
Answer: | Mine shipped at $36 if I remember correctly. But for sure it was under $40 |
Question: | Is the sheath in the post the actual sheath sent |
Answer: | That is the sheath I received. I ordered my knife a month ago.. .. |
Question: | Is this the 1075 version or the 1095 version |
Answer: | The newer 1075 Carbon Steel versions are less likely to chip than the 1095 Carbon Steel. These are hardened to a reasonable level so that they hold an excellent edge while remaining tough and resilient under adverse conditions. (I learned this from one of their engineers). This knife should perform just as well as the earlier 1095 Carbon Steel versions. Buy the Ontario Marine Raider Bowie Knife with confidence. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How does this compare to the Ontario RTAK II |
Answer: | The only RTAK worth owning, is the original. The 1st gen RTAKs are more tough; less brittle. You certainly won't shatter it (unlike the RTAK II)! Given how difficult it would be to find a gen-one RTAK though, I'd just go with the BK9.. |
Question: | Bk7 or bk |
Answer: | I had the same "wonderful" problem, so I purchased both of them. At the end I decided to keep the BK9 and send the BK7 back. This is my analysis and strictly my opinion: The BK9 can do 80% of all the things the BK7 can do. The BK9 has a much much stronger blade point and thus is far superior for batoning. The BK9 is the knife that is in a special category and looks, feels and can do probably everything that the MAJORITY of your other knifes can NOT do. The BK9 is THE knife that I would keep, if I were given only ONE CHOICE of knifes to own. In my particular case, the BK7 would have been just "another one of those MANY knives" that are stored in my closet and just sit around, waiting to be used....but are not! The BK9 has to work hard, gets no rest and gets not pampered. It truly is one of those incredibly good knives. |
Question: | Is the blade full tang |
Answer: | Yes it is full tang .. 1095 HC it has a really rough Finnish on it that is very strong.. 1095 HC can rust though so if u rem oil it it'll b fine this is honestly my favorite knife I own and definitely the toughest knife out there it sharpens up very well and stays sharp the handle is ok but if you want u can upgrade that or put the tennis racket grips over the existing handle to give it more grip the sheath at first I thought it wasn't to great but I now really like it .. It is definitely the best knife for 80 $ out there for the cash you are not going to brake this knife |
Question: | Does anybody know what country the BK9 is made in |
Answer: | I called the Becker cite and was advised the BK9 "country of origin" is USA. |

Ethan Becker is a man after our own heart. An avid outdoors-man who enjoys martial arts and hunting, Becker founded Becker Knife and Tool Corporation in the early 1980's to design the industrial-strength tactical and survival knives he'd always wanted for himself. What we love about Becker, other than his innovative designs, is that he spends so much time in the outdoors testing new equipment and designs. KA-BAR is proud to be the manufacturer of Becker's five best-selling models - all introduced recently and brought up to date and approved by Becker himself.

User questions & answers
Question: | is it a full tang |
Answer: | yes of course a full tang and very sharp and feels great . |
Question: | IS the sheath for this knife compatible with MOLLE attachment |
Answer: | With some altering (i.e. paracord or straps) this could be retrofitted to work with MOLLE. As is without such adjustments, best uses are on either the hip or thigh (just my honest opinion). There are however other sheaths, possibly better made, that will fit this knife and attach to MOLLE gear. |
Question: | is this made by kabar....made in the usa |
Answer: | Yes it is made by Kabar in the USA. |
Question: | Is this a full-tang knife or rat-tail |
Answer: | Full tang, sorta, as commenter Kurt Doney explains. And built like the Marine issue Ka-Bar, as commenter GlenFromCleveland breaks down. Hence, the knife is awesome. |

Question: | Where do i find a replacement sheath? Ive looked all over and cant find one |
Answer: | http://clevelandkydex.com/kabar-becker-c-28_3_8/kabar-warthog-sheath-p-631.html this one |
Question: | Does it come with a sheath |
Answer: | Yes, it comes with a nylon and leather sheath. The sheath is worst part of the knife in my honest opinion. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Does the coating on the blade last or does it show wear the first time you cut into something hard...does it scratch easy |
Answer: | The coating is insanely tough, I've beat the hell out of this blade and everything from the handle to the coating have held up great. This thing is a tank! |
Question: | Is this knive made in the United States or has greed driven production overseas |
Answer: | Over the years I have seen 99% of the products that I buy from certain Far East countries to fall apart within a year of purchase. 99% of what I have bought from Europe, North America, South America, Japan and so on last for years and years. Nothing against anybody or country, just my experience. One more thing, as weird as it seems to some, supporting production in the country you are from, wherever that happens to be, is common sense. |

Answer: | The blade looks to be approx 3/16" i am happy with the purchase |
Question: | is the sheath molle capable |

User questions & answers
Question: | What sheath comes with it |
Answer: | The sheath is of a nylon material with plastic insert and is very well-made. Regardless it’s well-made nature the sheath is way too large, cumbersome and could be scaled back significantly to the size of the knife. |
Question: | what’s the difference between sp5 and sp |
Answer: | sp 10 has a sabre grind, sp 5 has a flat grind, as well as the sp 10 being a heavier blade. |
Question: | Is this blade 1/4" thick and is it a flat grind or a saber grind |
Answer: | It is 1/4 thick and is flat ground |
Question: | What kind of tang does it have |
Answer: | Because of the balance issue with this model OKC knife. I decided to remove the molded handle and replace it and the finger guard with heavier brass and animal bone pieces. Well let me tell you that the handle falling or pulling off of the blade is not ever going to be a problem! It took two hours of hard work to get the handle off of the blade. This is a true full tang knife and it’s not skeletonized the balance issues come from the lightweight handle material. The tang is slightly smaller than the handle dimensions and the lanyard hole lining tube is pushed though a hole in the tang. I honestly don’t know what you could do to break the handle off of this knife. I have 3 different models of the OKC Spec series knives. I am completely impressed with the quality of such a economical knife. The only thing better about a K bar is the steel pommel. |

Answer: | The whole length is just over 9 inches. The blade is just over 4 and 3/4 inches. |
Question: | Is it made in the USA |
Answer: | It does not say on the knife where it was made so I would guess it was made in the USA. |
Question: | What is its use |
Answer: | Its strange... But its almost a hybrid knife in a way. Its sort of a Self defense/edc/throwing/ knife. Now it may be a LITTLE unpractical but due from my experience with blades you can use this guy for just about anything. |
Question: | is this knife full tang |
Answer: | It is full tang. One of the best knife purchases I have ever made. Be sure to check state and county laws regarding this "quality cutting tool" |
