9 best curb edgers
Curb edgers, also known as lawn edgers or garden edgers, are tools used in landscaping and gardening to create clean and defined edges between different areas of a lawn or garden. Here's what you should know about curb edgers:
Purpose: Curb edgers are primarily used to create clear and sharp boundaries between different parts of a landscape, such as the lawn, flower beds, walkways, and driveways. This helps improve the overall appearance of the garden and prevents grass and weeds from encroaching into areas where they are not wanted.
Types: There are various types of curb edgers available, including manual, gas-powered, and electric models. Each type has its advantages and is suitable for different situations.
Manual Curb Edgers: These are typically simple, handheld tools with a blade or wheel on one end and a handle on the other. You push or roll the edger along the desired edge to create a clean separation.
Gas-Powered Curb Edgers: Gas-powered edgers are more powerful and suitable for larger landscaping projects. They have a motor that drives a spinning blade to cut through turf and soil.
Electric Curb Edgers: Electric edgers are similar to gas-powered ones but are powered by electricity. They are typically less powerful but more environmentally friendly and require less maintenance.
Blades: Curb edgers have blades or cutting mechanisms that come in various shapes and sizes. Common blade types include straight blades for straight edges and star-shaped blades for more intricate designs.
Depth Adjustment: Many curb edgers allow you to adjust the cutting depth to create edges of different widths and depths to suit your landscaping needs.
Wheels: Manual curb edgers often have wheels that help guide the tool along the edge and maintain a consistent cutting depth.
Safety Precautions: When using curb edgers, it's essential to wear appropriate safety gear, such as safety glasses, ear protection, and sturdy footwear. Be cautious when working near sidewalks or driveways to avoid damaging them.
Maintenance: Proper maintenance is essential to keep curb edgers in good working condition. This includes cleaning the blades, checking for wear and tear, and ensuring that gas-powered or electric models are well-maintained according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Landscaping Projects: Curb edgers are commonly used for a variety of landscaping projects, such as creating defined borders for flower beds, separating the lawn from walkways or driveways, and making decorative or functional edges in garden designs.
Professional Landscaping: In professional landscaping, curb edgers are often used to achieve precise and polished results, giving landscapes a manicured appearance.
Curb edgers are valuable tools for maintaining the appearance and functionality of your lawn and garden. They allow you to create neat and defined edges, enhancing the overall look of your landscaping while helping to control the spread of grass and weeds. The choice between manual and powered curb edgers depends on the size of your project and your personal preferences.

Make edging a breeze with an innovative tool that is more effective than traditional edgers and easier to use than power edgers. The extended reach design of our edger means you won’t have to kneel or bend down to reach the borders of gardens and walkways like you would with traditional edgers. Since there’s no gasoline, you won’t be bothered by the noise, fumes and refueling hassles that come with power edgers. A steel blade with a sharp edge cuts cleanly through dense turf, a large foot platform makes it easy to maximize cutting force, and a dual-handle design provides comfortable use and enhanced control.
- Ideal for edging walkways and gardens
- Steel blade slices cleanly through dense turf
- Large foot platform makes it easy to maximize force with your body weight
- Long shaft makes edging easy for anyone who has trouble kneeling or bending
User questions & answers
Question: | Where is this made |
Answer: | It is a great product and it provides a close shave without damaging the skin I buy it for my son who has thick beard hair . It will work on anyone with similar beard description regardless of skin color. |
Question: | Is the whole plate of the same material? Can the edge be sharpened |
Answer: | Varies. I shave twice per week and one will last a couple of months. Thicker beard or insufficiently softened beard 🧔 will wear the blade down faster. |
Question: | On fiskars website this product has a lifetime warranty. anyone know if the warranty is still good should i buy through amazon |
Answer: | They work for me, I don't have any issues with razor bumps. In my case these razors allow a close as possible shave without the hairs going below the skin. So when I rub my face (particularly against the grain) I will feel slight, fine hairs; its not a clean hairless shave. Which it shouldn't be, the guard on the razor prevents the hair being cut below the skin and therefore I don't get hair / razor bumps to form. A new sharp razor give me a very satisfying close shave. |
Question: | How deep does it dig in |
Answer: | I'm white of Southern European ancestry and have very curly beard hair. I used to suffer with pseudofolliculitis, where the hair curls back into the skin. I've been using these bump fighter razors for years and they have helped a lot, I get pseudofolliculitis about 95% less than with regular razors. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this actually an official product from the Ames company, with a 15 product warranty, or is this a knock off |
Answer: | It is an actual AMES product |
Question: | how tall is the blade |
Answer: | 4.5 inches |
Question: | Hey ya'll, i'm 67 years old, female, 5'5", 115 lbs. will this work for me? i have red alabama clay, but know to do this after a good rain |
Answer: | I'm 73, 5'2", 122 lbs., and it works for me in Alabama coastal sand. A good rain still helps, but hand edging is work no matter what! It's not so much the consistency of the soil as the toughness of the grass that is the issue here. |
Question: | What is the best way to use this along my side walk and drive way ect and make it look clean cut and nice |
Answer: | TIP: this is a cutter, not a shovel & should not be used for shoveling or lifting out grass/sod like you would with a shovel. For best results, place the blade next to the sidewalk to be trimmed, with shaft straight up vertically against the edge of the sidewalk, then stomp straight down on the edger shearing off any overhanging grass or sod. Repeat this cutting process along the sidewalk until finished. Then with a regular shovel easily scoop up the trimmed grass/sod & dispose. |
