| Answer: | I've been a painter for over 20 yrs and used many sprayers, any paint atomized to spray will float 200 ft and stick to a car with very little breeze. Buy .01 mil plastic and cover any cars within 200 ft in the direction of any breeze, it the wind is blowing towards your back yard, paint quick before it changes direction. usually spray will settle within a 10 to 20 ft area from an outside wall with the most paint being in a 3 ft area below the wall. Plastic is cheaper than painting a nice car for someone else !!! |

| Answer: | The max spray tip is the key. I have a Graco X7 Magnum Pro and my max tip size is .017. This is found in the last two numbers of the number on the tip. So a tip marked 517 would mean that the spray tip orifice is .017. The “5” is half the width of the spray fan pattern. So the 517 tip would spray a pattern that is 10 inches wide (5 x 2) and would spray a paint that requires an .017 orifice which is a very thick paint. The orifice size requirement can be found in the paint specifications. This unit comes with a 515 tip, and I could not find the max tip size but I suspect this is it — .015 — which is a big orifice and can handle almost all latex or oil based paints but I would not use oil base in a sprayer because of clean up. Much easier to run water through it for clean up than mineral spirits. I am currently painting my deck and I’m using Sherwin-Williams Super Deck product which is thicker than normal paint, and I’m using a .015 spray tip. I’m using a 315 on the railings to limit overspray and conserve paint. The 315 will give me a 6” spray pattern and the .015 is within the manufactures specifications for this product. I could have used a .017 but it would have put out a lot more paint and made it a little more difficult to control overspray and conserve paint. I hope that helps. This is a great sprayer at a very good price, but follow the directions and make sure you clean it properly and use pump armor when stored. |

| Answer: | Maybe Slightly Thinner than warm Syrup, So probably between Warm Syrup & Water. A word of advice though, I had an extremely difficult time working with this product & had to sand and reapply many coats to get a satisfactory finish. It dries fast & if you run a brush over it after is has sat more than a minute it will create rough brush marks. Additionally if you apply more than a very thin layer it will crack similar to a crackle pattern. Unless you are putting this over a pure white background I would recommend that you use the standard "Crystal Clear" non-water based urethane. It has only a light yellow tint and is much easier to work with in my experience. |

The wheels will not let the unit roll around freely without tilting it back first so they are not the problem on a scaffold. That said, I would still discourage putting the pump on a scaffold. |

In Europe they use a single phase / single load line and if this machine were used there it would require a power converter (rated to at least 1500 watts continuous) to step the voltage down from their 220v to the machines 110v. |

Just make sure the unit's flow rate (x5 is 0.27 GPM) meets or exceeds the rated flow rate of the tip you're buying to be sure. You can go up to 0.016 with the x5 if you're using Graco's Fine Finish tips since the currently available 516 and 616 fine-finish (green) tips are rated at 0.27 GPM (which matches the x5's output capacity). Also, you *must* check the data sheet for the paint you'll be using to ensure you're using the right tip orifice size. For example, Sherwin-Williams Emerald exterior acrylic satin (K48 series) specifies a tip size of 0.015 - 0.019 for airless spray application. Note that the maximum recommended tip size for this unit is also the minimum tip size required for the Emerald paint, so in this scenario, you *must* use 0.015 and nothing else. Any smaller will clog and any larger will result in a poor paint finish with ugly trails at the top and bottom of the spray pattern because the sprayer won't be able to maintain a high enough pressure to atomize the paint properly. |

| Answer: | If I am understanding your question correctly, you are mainly asking the difference between a "211" tip and a "411" tip, correct? The first digit of these 3 number sequences (for a 211, the number "2", for a 411 the number would be "4", for a 511 the number would be "5" and so on...) refers to fan width and is one-half the size of the working fan width, so if you double the first number it will tell you in inches what the tip's approximate fan spray width will be if you were to hold the spray gun about one foot from the surface to be sprayed. On a 211 tip (double the "2") which gives you an approx fan width of 4 inches. A 411 tip would be about 8 inches, a 511 would be about 10 inches, and so on... The last two digits (in the above examples would be "11") is the orifice opening measurements in thousandths of an inch. So in all of the above examples the number is "11" which would mean that they all have an orifice opening of 11 thousandths of an inch (0.011") hence the number "11" (211, 411, 511 etc...) Just for practice, a 311 would give a fan spray of about 6 inches with 11 thousandths spray tip opening. Now try a 619 tip (12 inch fan with a 0.019" opening). A 521 would be a 10" fan spray with 021" orifice opening. Now that you have the basics of tip numbers, below you will find general recommendations from Graco regarding which tip size and color coding to use to best suit your needs. RECOMMENDED TIP SIZES FOR COMMON COATING MATERIALS Lacquer or Stain .009 - .013 Oil Based Paint .013 - .015 Latex Paint .015 - .019 Heavy Latex or Smooth Elastomeric .021 - .025 Elastomeric & Blockfiller .025 - .035 + GRACO USES A COLOR-CODING SYSTEM TO IDENTIFY TIP TYPES. | Answer: | The brushes seem to have very soft bristles and should be fine to use with polyurethanes. However, you still may get brush marks left over so use caution anytime you’re brushing on Poly. |

Clean them with the appropriate solvent for the pant you are using (usually turpentine) until completely clean after every use, reform the brush into the correct shape, sit them on a towel you only use for painting or triple folded paper towels on a paper plate on your counter out of the way until dry than store them either laying safely FLAT where nothing will bother them or upright in something like an empty coffee can out of the way where nothing will mess up its form. Refrigerator..smh.. |
