Question:	Is this water based or acid
Answer:	This is an industrial quality water-based (much higher quality than anything available at Big Box stores.). Acid Stains are hard to work with (because it is acid) and the color is unpredictable (because it interacts with the different elements in the concrete.)
Question:	Do you have to prep / etch broom finished concrete before applying the stain
Answer:	In general, it is always better to etch concrete first before staining, but you can just use the stain if the concrete is porous. If you pour some water on the concrete and it soaks in right away and turns dark, then you don’t have to etch. But - the concrete porosity could vary, so it may not uniformly “take” the stain - resulting in light and dark spots throughout. Also, on a broom finish, realize that the stain will probably highlight the broom finish - since stain will tend to pool in the low spots of the texture. Etching the concrete will knock off the “highs and lows”, making the stain penetrate more evenly. So, it depends what effect you are going for. In general, we ALWAYS suggest ordering the 4 oz sample first to test. Good luck!

Question:	Will I need to etch the concrete despite it being ground down with a diamond grinding cup? There's nothing left but clean concrete & water absorbs in
Answer:	Etching OR Grinding is fine - the goal is to achieve full porosity. Be warned though that grinding should not produce swirl marks. Often this means switching to a less aggressive size at the end. Stain often accentuates swirl marks in the concrete. Test a small area, if needed.

Answer:	Ours tuned out pretty dark, but we also did two coats and left it on a little over the recommended time. We really like how it turned out. We have white walls and a white ceiling.

Answer:	We just put it on cemented patio. I think if your finish is porous enough, it should do it. Go on the website and ask them, personally. They will be able to help. by sending a question to them.

Answer:	I did, It looks better.
Question:	How long do i let set
Answer:	It all depends on how dark you want the stain to get. The longer it reacts the darker the stain up to a point. I did some test spots and decided to let mine set for about an hour which was about the time that the acid stopped reacting with the cement. There are some really good YouTube videos on how to stain concrete. I would advise watching them to get some good ideas.
Question:	How old does the concrete have to be
Answer:	Short answer: Doesn't matter. Surface condition is what matters. Long answer: It should be noted that this is not my first time staining concrete. So... I have stained many concrete surfaces. Although the sand to silica ration has decreased as a cost saving measure for concrete manufacturers in recent years. I do not believe that has shown an impact on staining. Moisture definitely does. All slabs hold moisture. This is why they are sealed (or at least should be). Brand new slabs, even after cured, will hold more moisture and change the coloring of stain over time. Depending on the look you are going for, the surface scrapes and cracks add that aged, industrial look some folks like. However, In any situation... YOU MUST PROPERLY PREP THE SURFACE!! .Preparing the surface is crucial. You must remove any sealant on the slab in order for the stain to react properly with the lime, silica, and sand in the concrete. So I rent a concrete commercial surface grinder from Home Depot to skim - sand the surface area being stained. You must remove carpet glue and paint splatter. Any blemish will show up after staining, so if you see it before, you definitely will see if after. Slacking on this step will probably be the reason you end up not liking the final result. This is a very, very messy (dust GALORE) task. I suggest sectioning off every doorway and vent that connects to the room by duct taping plastic sheets to seal the area. THIS IS WELL WORTH THE EFFORT. After applying the stain, you now must reseal the area. If you like glossy, seal with a glossy concrete sealant. Some folks prefer the matte look that they see after the stain has set. Thats great. But you still must seal it! Use a matte/flat sealant. If your not a DIY guy, this might sound like a lot. Like my grandpa said "Do it right. Or expect to do it over again." Good luck!
Question:	my concrete has been painted. Can I use this stain over the painted concrete? Is this water-based acrylic concrete stain
Answer:	No, this product could not be used over a painted surface. This is an acid based stain that reacts with the concrete to achieve it's color. We do have Water Based Acrylic Stains though.

Answer:	That will depend what kind of stain. Typically not unless it is another acid stain. If it is another acid stain - since it not going on a gray surface the final color you achieve will vary.
Question:	Will this work on my broom brushed concrete patio? Gets the West sun also, will it fade and have to redune in 2 years
Answer:	Once you put the acid after neutralizing seal it with unless 2 tops I personally use sealer 123 they sell it at Home Depot is not expensive and when you applied look white but dries clear ...Good luck in your project.

Answer:	This is a pigmented stain. Yes it will hold up to south Florida sun. A good outside solvent based acrylic with a UV absorber like Concrete Resurrection Outside Acrylic CR-560 will help prolong the color.
Question:	Can you mix this directly into cement mix
Answer:	No, that is not recommended. We do have integral colors that are made for that purpose.
Question:	Do you sell any light gray or limestone color? wanted a walkway light in middle with charcoal border..need tape also
Answer:	You can mix colors to get custom colors - so you can take white and add some charcoal for a very light gray. If you use tape - use the blue painters tape and leave down as little time as possible. Tape is not good for concrete.

Answer:	These cracks will need to be repaired either through mixing a batch of concrete or purchasing a concrete patch. As we do not sell such items, ensure that you follow all curing times of the concrete (general 30 days) or from the patching kit that you purchase.
Question:	Does this product help prevent mold and mildew
Answer:	The INSL-X TuffCrete Acrylic Concrete Stain does not contain an additive to help control the growth and mildew on its film. If mold and mildew do occur, this product is highly washable and can be addressed by first cleaning with a detergent and warm water or moving to a solution of bleach and water.

Answer:	Sanding or grinding is only needed if: The concrete has a paint or sealer on it (sealed surfaces will not react with concrete acid stain). The top surface has been power toweled very smooth. It is highly advised to conduct a sample patch/test area to verify color and results prior to staining the entire slab.
Question:	How many square feet does one gallon on stain cover
Answer:	Approximate coverages are: Smooth concrete 300 square feet per gallon. Medium broom finish concrete 200 square feet per gallon. Rough heavy broom finish concrete 100 square feet per gallon.

Answer:	If the floor is very smooth and/or shiny, the floor will need to be sanded or acid etched to open up the pours of the concrete. You can do a test patch (in mechanical room or closet) to see if the stain will take.

Question:	How long do you have to let it sit before rinsing off
Answer:	Be ready with a spray bottle (like a garden sprayer) full of vinegar and water (50/50). This stops the chemical reaction. I left the acid on for 3 minutes however, it depends on the base color of the stone you are staining how dark the final colors will be AND how long you leave the acid on. The longer you leave it on, the darker it will be. Wear gloves and test your stone with different "leave on" times to get the depth of color you're looking for.
Question:	We have a patio with old Valspar stain that has worn off in several places. Will this look right if you try to cover the old paint/stain
Answer:	Assuming the patio is concrete, It depends on the color of acid you choose and how well you clean any paint and sealer off before staining. I would recommend getting 3 acids in varying color and putting them at different spots on the patio and blend with a stiff broom or brush. This way any discoloration will look planned
Question:	Would this work with Ardex feather finish
Answer:	It has worked with patching for me, but I have not tried on ardex. The only to make sure is to test on a small ardex patched area.

Question:	Is this the same as chomp pull it out oil & stain remover or what is the difference? which is better for removing oil stains on concrete or pavers
Answer:	I originally bought this because I thought it was the same -- and I had a big oil stain! It is not the same. However it is a great pre-treatment and may even remove enough oil to satisfy. The other stuff is a thick, chalky liquid that you pour on and wait for it to dry. Then you sweep it off. It really gets the stain out!
Question:	Can this product be used to prep services for paint? After you white the product onto the surface for paint, do you wipe it off immediately afterward
Answer:	I wouldn't use this for surface prep. It is a great cleaner but I would rinse any cleaner off paint thoroughly. I use a liquid sander for prep dependent on the original paint, such as enamels.
Question:	How do you use this product? Is it like a solvent or does it work like a grease lifter? Do you need to clean it up with water
Answer:	It's a cleaner, degreaser, odor remover. for cleaning, apply to a paper towel or cloth, wipe the surface. For heavier soils/degreasing. apply to surface, let sit for a few minutes, agitate with a scouring sponge, wipe clean. repeat if needed. It contains a built in deodorizer so it will eliminate malodors at the same time.

Question:	can this be applied over engineered stone floor tile to change the color
Answer:	A test would need to be done prior to application. If water can readily soak into the tile then it should be apple to be applied to it.
Question:	The acetone to mix with the color stain is it the same as the nail polish remover
Answer:	You can purchase acetone in most places that sell paint.
Question:	How much area do these 8 oz sample bottles cover? I have a 4 ft. water fountain, I am looking to color and don't need a full gallon

Question:	do you have to use both the stain and the sealer? i am staining a coffee table- 50 x
Answer:	I bought the stain and the sealer to do a concrete bird bath. The stain ran off the concrete bird bath even though the bbath was etched. So I used neither. If you are putting the table outside I would seal it because of the weather, also if you sealed the table it gives it a nice polished look. It makes your stain last longer.
Question:	can you use a concrete sealer after spraying
Answer:	Sure
Question:	What color describes "limestone" best
Answer:	I'd say it is more of a taupe - a little on the beige end. And it depends on how thick you put it on or how much of the concrete shows through. I have it on the floor in a room in the house and it varies based on the concrete that is unfinished that comes through in various spots. Hope that helps.

Answer:	I am only aware of this item in a spray on method.

Question:	I just got around to using these and ever bottle leaked 5 mins after adding aceton an got ever where why is that
Answer:	I added acetone to color in glass container. Acetone will eat thru plastics

Answer:	The sample bottles cover about 12 sq ft each
Question:	What kind of acetone should I use? I only know acetone as a nail polish remover
Answer:	I purchased the acetone from Home Deport; Lowe's also carries it . Very readily available.
