Answer:	Wipe On Poly is designed to eliminate brush application. I use a small square of old tee shirt gathered around several cotton balls and tied with a twist tie. Wear a nitrile glove and hold the "daubber" in your had, dip it into a small qty. of the poly and proceed to wipe the surface. Watch the reflection on the surface as you apply the poly to ensure complete coverage. Allow to dry. Lightly sand with 320 grit and reapply. Repeat until you have the desired result.

Answer:	Don’t see why it wouldn’t. I used it on Outside wood pieces.

Answer:	This coating is for interior use. Polyurethane will yellow if exposed to direct sun light. Spar varnish, which is used to finish wood on boats would be a better option for outdoor use.

Answer:	Generally speaking, you can apply polyurethane over most types of paint regardless of color. However, the paint MUST be fully cured, and the prep-work that you do with the painted surface (sanding or scuffing, etc) before applying is crucial for good adhesion. Normal polyurethane will probably give the white paint a yellow tint. A water-based poly or polycrylic would be better as there is no yellowing effect after applying it.

Answer:	I have table tops in my house finished with polyurethane where I routinely do not use coasters for hot cups of coffee and tea and have done no harm to the finish. I would not put a casserole dish straight from the oven on the table, however; you are only asking for trouble.

Answer:	It's one quart and it is worth every penny. One quart covers 125 square feet. That's not one coat of 125 feet, that's 3 coats of 125 feet. One quart will FINISH 125 feet.

Answer:	I used it on butcher block that was treated several times with mineral oil it came out perfect..they advise to sand down the wood if it's pretreated. So I'd sand it, and use the waterlox. Ps.... the waterlox IMO works 10000 times better than the mineral oil..I should have started with it

Answer:	I have used it on a kitchen table that was chalk painted and it dried clear and is very durable. I did 3 light coats but be sure each coat is dry before applying the next coat.

Answer:	My wife works with polymer clay. Gloss gives depth and extra dimension to the projects. It also enhances metallic clays, such as gold and silver. She would never use satin or semi-gloss over metallics, because all they do is to dull the shine. Question:	Can this polyurethane be used on kitchen counter tops? I am planning on painting mine. Feedback please
Answer:	For my dresser, yes it turned it yellow. I used 4 thin layers of rustoleum linen white chalk paint after lightly sanding with no primer. I think the yellow somehow came through from the previous topcoat/stain because the areas that I sanded more thoroughly had less yellowing. I wonder if I had used a primer, if it would have blocked any bleed through from the previous finish. I’m still so surprised it got pulled up through 4 layers of chalk paint.
Question:	Can it be used over Oil polyurethane
Answer:	"Wiped on" is the only way I use Varathane now. I take a paper towel, dab it into the can, and carefully rub it onto the wood. I just did this with some repurposed cigar boxes the other night - came out beautiful. The finish seams to be a little more satiny than when you brush on the Varathane - the first project I did, I brushed on many coats and the pieces were a bit shiny. I prefer the wiped finish, it looks great on both of the Cigar Box Guitars that I've built and, as I mentioned, the two cigar boxes I just redid. You want to avoid putting on very thick layers, as well as leaving any gobs or lines of the finish, just like with anything else you're putting on wood. General rule of thumb with this stuff - if it looks white or creamy on the wood, it's too thick. Be careful sanding between layers, since the wiped on finish, for me, is often thinner than brushed on finish. Side note - The guitars only have Varathane on the neck. The wood for the necks came from an old dining room table, it's heavy and dense. The wood was stripped of finish, painted with a variety of colors and chemicals to reach a certain patina, and then I wiped on the Varathane. Came out beautiful, and the finish is holding up really well.

Answer:	It is better to experiment first rather than ruin a good piece. Use chalk paint painted on a piece of discard wood to see how it works. It probably will work, but always experiment first.

Answer:	polyurethane seal on top of paint?I am not entirely sure if would work. Is the paint oil based? It also would depend on the bond between the surface and the paint. A general tip would be use a de-waxed shellac (sanding sealer) between the paint and the polyurethane.

Answer:	I have not had this yellow on me yet. It usually only happens when in direct sunlight and have more than maybe 3 thick coats. Also, don't go heavy on coats. You don't want to leave white streaks when allowing it to dry. The white may not go away after drying and then may yellow over time. So do a couple thin coats and you will be fine.

Answer:	This is a very forgiving medium. Any brush will do. Just put a coat down quickly and don't worry about ridges, they will dissipate. The key is don't fuss and try to make a smooth surface, you''ll lose time. Very important to get the coat down evenly and quickly. Do not try to work back over a partially dry coat, or work back into your previous pass, it will ball up terribly. If you have a large surface, use a large brush. Work horizontally if at all possible. Vertically, use HVLP with a varnish tip. Move quickly and don't hesitate in your stroke to avoid 'sagging'.
